Grimwyrd has a great set of 5 tutorials that cover the basics of the game. #5 is gun modifications. Heres the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO74ITJ2af8 While you're there, check out his other videos. Watching #1 thru #4 will save you a lot of time trying to figure stuff out later once you start to play.

Yeah there are a few posts about this already. Gun customization is all based around the Salvage Matrix. You use it to add mods to your weapon. Up to 4 mod slots per weapon, Stock, Barrel, Magazine and Sight/Scope. You can add mod slots to a weapon that doesn't have any, but it costs Ark Salvage, a green currency you get from virtually everything you do.

It's great mini-game. Besides stats boost guns change appearance - for example here is (non-)modified shotgun:

+ you can see two different modifications (http://imgur.com/a/W8YSN#Kywahi2) of sniper rifle (different scopes and barrels)

With 50000 killed NPCs requirement - it *must* be neat. However Deluxe version will have exactly the same suit (different color).

Lol i actually watched all 5 videos which took over an hour maybe near 2 and by the end of the 4th i started to nod off a bit. However i enjoyed all the videos i didn't learn much that i didn't learn myself playing around but it's always nice to make sure you have a grasp on things.

Thanks for the nice words about my vids! I'm glad some people in the thread found them helpful. Trust me, I totally recognize I have a boring, monotone delivery. I'd be more exciting if I could, but... it's just not me <shrug>.

I mostly made them for a few friends and guildmates who haven't had a chance to beta test, then if other folks out on the interwebs found them useful... it's a bonus!

Thanks for them. The gun customizing was informative and the comment someone posted on not messing around till 350-600 ego is great to know ahead of time.

For me, strategies will all come down to the "resetting guns" mechanic. That's something devs have talked about, but we have not seen in testing.

Currently, when the gun reaches full xp you get an extra inherent bonus on that gun, but you stop earning Weapon Skill xp with that gun. In testing, that forces you to abandon guns pretty frequently, to keep raising your weapon skill. Why are you going to spend ark salvage adding more mod slots to a gun you have to abandon? Why are you going to purchase great mods (or even weak mods) for a gun you're just going to abandon?

If resetting the gun's xp is in-game at launch, and that reset is pretty cheap, and it preserves the mods in the gun... then it becomes much more interesting to spend early Keys on synergy mod caches, spend ark salvage on adding extra mod slots, and really tricking-out a gun at lower level.
