Cost cutting measures for a development house having financial difficulties. It's not uncommon for a company experiencing problems, larger companies do this all the time as well. It's just easier for them to remain profitable if they are not operating several physical locations; each office requires specific upkeep that can be a financial drain on the company if it does not turn a profit. They are likely able to perform the European branch's operations from their Redwood location, which justifies closing down the physical location in Europe.

Scott Hartsman is in charge now and obviously on a mission to make the company profitable once again. This just means they are trying to find ways to cut costs. This is a short term solution to prevent too much hemorrhaging of money, with the long term solution being increasing profitably through their several in-development projects, as well as adjusting their operation policies.

Basically, this is phase one of a company undergoing change. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Regardless, best wishes to those who were affected and lost their jobs.

When your company is not making a shtako amount of money, it is only natural for budget cuts to come. Closing down offices is just a part of this process.

Depends who you ask.

You'll get those that will have you believe everything is rosy and they are just trying to get everything in one place.

Then you'll have those that will have you believe that you don't lay off as many people as Trion have done over the past year or two unless something is quite wrong.

Then there are those that think problems, like the ones Trion has been suffering, only come from on place .... "the management".

Either way you look at it, there is no way to spin it that makes it look good for Trion.

As previously mentioned, there is another thread where this discussion should continue at this link http://forums.defiance.com/showthread.php?122529-Trion-Shutting-down-the-EU-branch.

Please use that one for further posting on the subject, thank you!
