It's the way Americans do decimals. It means 1 and a half

Actually 1.5 hours isn't using international standard time, which would be 1 hour and 30 minutes. 1.5 hours is used when using the North American Time Telling System, or NATTS. One NATTS hour consists of 100 minutes, one NATTS minute consists of 100 NATTS seconds. One minutes as most of us know it is 1,6 NATTS minutes.

An hour and 30 minutes. Just like with weapon rolls, 1.05 means 5% more! :D

Yes it means the same (1 and a half) but its use by telling time is incorrect...

Point 5...
It`s a way to split something in two.
Doesn`t really matter if your american or european, or asian or african or from Oceania...

If 1 hour is 60 minutes then what should it be an half !? 0.5
We may question if it is the right way to put it, i think that it was a way to put it out...
...any intelligent person would understand it without making this something relevant!?
Maybe your just bored.

I don't know of anywhere in the world where one hour consists of 100 minutes and it certainly doesn't in North America.

1.5 to us Europeans and everyone else lol would mean 1 hour and 50 mins..........Its very wrong to use decimal for time PERIOD!

Referring to a single hourly unit as 1, using .5 for 30 minutes is just fine. Maybe I'm just used to it from my paystubs.

LOL , your logic is faulty.
By your logic, then it should be 1 hour and 5 minutes. It`s 1.5 , not 1.05. Can you see the difference?

Exactlly, not that it is the correct way, only because it`s logic :)

So... this is an interesting thread. I've never actually heard of an hour equally 100 minutes before, or even a minute equally 100 seconds. They were always sixty for me either way. I also wasn't aware that 1.5 hours in European standards was 1 hour and 5 minutes when it seems that others from the area understand it just fine. I figured it was just simple math to me. 1.5 meaning 1 and a half, ergo, one and a half hours, or an hour and thirty minutes.

I find it very hard to believe that anywhere in the world, educated people would not know that 1.5 meant 1 and 1/2 of something. Certainly the co-workers I have dealt with who were natives of Canada, Belgium, Spain, Korea and India had no problem with the concept that 1.5hrs = 90min

Okay I'm shutting this thread because there's no need to have it devolve into a fight. :)
