View Full Version : How to fix this Defiance "The right way"

Let me start off by saying I am a big fan of the concept Defiance brought. It has amazing potential. So much so, I bought the ultimate edition twice. It's the $150 version. I kept one for myself and gave one to my friend. Unfortunately, like most games with huge potential, they are failing. How? You ask? In many ways, which I will gladly breakdown. Im not going to go into the standard lag issues. Trion is always working on that. Lets get into the issues and how fix them.


Lack of stuff to do


What do we have to do? We have arkfalls, sieges, emergencies, co-op maps, pvp and farming. It is my opinion that arkfalls, sieges, and emergencies are all fine. Their problem is lag.

The co-op maps needs a bit of tweaking. I think we have a fair share of them for now. Id like to see more in the future. The part that needs to be changed is how they are set up. We shouldn't need 4 people to do one. It's nice to have four but not needed. Let's say I wanted to play a co-op map. I have to wait till three other people want to do the same thing. We are badass ark hunters. One of us is more than enough to handle these co-op maps. I suggest we have the ability to start one on our own, with the option to allow people to join or lock it so no one joins. It would cater to some people's needs and maybe give some people more to do.

PvP suffers from lack of diversity. There are only two game types, team deathmatch and capture and hold. They are good game types. We need more like free for all, attack and defend, assassination, and retrieval. Free for all im sure everyone knows. Attack and defend is like where u have something important like an ark matrix and you place it somewhere on the map. One team protects it and the other tries to recover it and takes it to the extraction point. Then the game is over. Might sound boring but trust me its a great game type. Assassination is where a group like the raiders try to kill karl von bach. One team tries to escort him from one point of the map to another. The other team wins if karl gets killed. Retrieval is two teams on a mission to get lets say lockboxes. u have one lockbox somewhere on the map. Both teams race there and try take it to their spot to get points for it. The team who reaches the point amount wins or who has the highest amount of points when the timer runs out. One last thing. Need way more maps.


Economy


People are not making enough scrip. I ran the numbers and let me tell you something. It's sad. On bonus loot weekends, not including buying loot bonuses, you make almost 15k every 17 mins at suctro. You want to buy a million dollar gun? Spend 8 hours of your life grinding there. That's how long it takes. There is no other place to make better steady scrip. You could convert the guns you get from farming into keycodes but there is faster ways to get keycodes. See co-op maps above. Suctro sucks for making scrip. It's only good for leveling up guns and making ark salvage.

The first part of fixing it is raising the amount of scrip you make from arkfalls, co-op maps and emergencies. It needs to be much better than suctro tower. How much? Im not quite sure.

The second part is getting a real shop system. These so called shops on the forums are a joke. Craiglist for trading is an okay idea but not everyone wants to go on here to buy and sell. Having to wait for someone else is not good. An auction shop like diablo 3 would work fine. Trying to sell in zone area chat is terrible as you get spammers and randoms talking about some freaky stuff that should be private.

The third part is up to us the community. People look down purples, blues, and greens like they nothing. The truth is these guns can be way better than any given legendary. Stop putting your nose up to these gun's colors.

The fourth part is take off spending scrip on keycodes and lockboxes.

Do this Trion along with fixing the lag, then you will have a truly remarkable game.

PC (EU) we usually manage to get from 9 to 10 just barely. Got to 11 once.
It really depends on the zerg though. If everyone is part of the zerg it becomes a real struggle. If there are a couple of people dedicated to each spot then its a lot better.

A group I was in the other day got to level 10. But it shortly ended after that.

made it to level 12 this morning with a short crew of players (probably 20 at the siege in Mutant District).. not too bad considering it was about 8am EST :)

Now.. as for your OP, your simply restating what's been mentioned as needed fixes and additions to the game for months now. Problem is, just like months ago, these "needs" are still valid and still very much wanted by the community at large. An auction house and adjusting the script gain would really set this game up in a HUGE way.
