COD killed my original 60 GB but it was still in the warranty so no problem.
But it also killed my 60 GB replace after the warranty, and COD was the killer too...lol, i still have it at home, maybe i`ll sender to fix.

This game puts a big load on the first gen of PS3, it`s hard to believe that some still work from the launch date.

Mine is also the YLOD but i prefer to send her to Sony and pay €100 and get a new one, not new new , it`s refurbished but still with 2 more years of warranty.
And nothing like that 60GB all in one console.
But still another distinction, i would rather have one of yours 60 GB US than mine. The US versions has the Chip Emotion Engine of the PS2 and ours in Europe don`t, it`s software emulation.
But i loved that console.

Yeah, DC Universe Online killed my launch model 60gb fatty more than a few times... I just took it to a local place to get repaired as I waited. Gave that very same 60gb fatty away to a friend recently, because his old 60gb fatty went DOA. Thankfully, I upgraded to a 500gb slim a year or two ago, so I didn't really need that old bastich.

I'm still rocking an original ps3 slim from 2009 or 2010.

Defiance killed my refurbished 60GB fatboy last October - that beast lasted at least 3, maybe 4 years. Replaced with super slim 500GB. I still have the fatboy am considering repairing it at the local place and trading the slim for PS4. But I am worried Defiance will kill my poor fatboy again so am waiting until everyone starts migrating to PS4 in larger numbers.

The old PS3 is cool because we can play PS2 games, yes i`m a nostalgic dude and i like once in a while to replay old glories, and she is big but beutiful in my humble opinion.

HAHAHAHA... yeah, the migration has already started for me... and once Watch Dogs launches next week, I'll more than likely swap my PS3 with my PS4 for a bit.

The thermal past doesn`t melt (i guess), i think that it gets dry and cracks, and because of that the heat does not dissipate leading to super heating= YLOD

I had one earlier this year bite it. Probably to many criticals causing it to work too hard. When I get time I'll put mine in the oven and flow it.

If you fix the thermal paste you do not need to format the HDD but its not the HDD it is the thermal paste on the mother board.

This is why I'd rather build my own system instead of relying on some greedy corporation to make one for me. We're all just statistics to them.
