I kept seeing this really cool looking robot type thing in the season 2 commercial and I kept thinking how cool it looked. While rewatching the show last night I saw the commercial again and paused it on the robot. That's when I realized it's head was similar to Dekuso and it may just be a Gulanee. I hope it is. Would be cool to learn more about them.

Yeah I kept seeing the bot too. It does look cool. Hope we get it in the game with those new enemies. :)

One of the sneak previews/deleted scenes Nolan, the Mayor and the Bioman were walking through a forest-like area and Nolan was talking about how a Gulanee managed to wipe out a bunch of soldiers etc etc and that the 3 of them didn't have a chance.

So yeah we'll likely be seeing them in the show. That one certainly looks like a Gulanee. With them being energy and energy can't be created or destroyed I'd think it'd be safe to assume our 101 friend is still alive somewhere, we simply destroyed his suit-thing.

Looks like a Spartan from Halo 4. The head at least.

Well we've only seen one Gulanee character in either the game or show and he's just in a big bio suit.

It would be nice to see more, though I am aware there weren't many of the Gulanee to begin with.

Perhaps, but based on the fact that it has four arms, I'm gonna say its a Modanaut.

It looks too much like Dekusco. I don't think its one of the Grid. The Grid don't have the blue sphere for a head, Dekusco did and so did the picture.

Well, if you want to bring the laws of thermodynamics into the writing of this show/game, the Gulanee can't exist. Energy is a property (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy), not a type of matter. "Energy beings" make just about as much sense as "Height beings", or "Color beings".

Dont spoil it with your logic good scientific facts. It's called sci-fi for a reason.

Property is a physically measurable value.

If a property of a completely unknown species is considered severely unusual relative to the viewer, it would not be considered absurd to refer to them as such (IE: 'firefly'). An unknown race 5 meters tall could be referred to as 'height beings'. In science fiction, 'liquid beings' or 'energy beings' are long-established conventions. That's what makes it 'science fiction'.

Picking at the point with someone on a video game forum for a *science fiction* game is completely pointless, and comes across as snarky and wanna-be intellectual.

Just sayin'.

There's magic, and then there's space magic. We can argue about the former, but the latter is untouchable.

Me to Bonehead. Several of the posts on this thread have really big words and really deep thoughts.

But energy can disperse, and if gulanee "life" depends on cohesion of this energy "body", then the result of dispersion will be the same as on a physical body.

And if we look at what Asimov and Heinlein thought as technological miracle working, a lot of these things are either everyday items or even obsolete. How long before Gibson, Hamilton or Shirow's visions are feasible? We're already printing noses and ears for transplants, and are working on vital organs.

Human science is largely limited by current knowledge and ability of observation. Once in a while we move these boundaries, enabling us to observe more accurately and expand and revise existing knowledge in a given field. In essence, what we think today is impossible may tomorrow be probable. The science fiction genre follows the same pattern to a degree, but while science is ruled by an abundance of different factors, science fiction is only limited by imagination and to an extent plausibility. So if you can come up with something believable to laymen, it's good. Like energy-based lifeforms.

Being an intellectual is not what it's cranked up to be.

You're better off as a firefighter or a police officer. They get more girls.

According to Herr Einstein, Enery = mass (scaled by the speed of light squared)

Mass is also a property, the "amountiness" of matter present...

We generally don't refer to matter beings either (forget antimatter/mirror universes if you will)

Problem with that is we are just ghosts in the machines, and it is easy to have something else take over the controls.
