Please do a state of the game address or something along those lines so we the players know the direction your taking Defiance....

Sadly, if they did actually answer you, it may be something along the lines of "its for the longer more fulfilling chase"....

Don't forget to throw in an insult or two and be condescending the whole time. "These players do not know how to play our game".

Honestly? As much as I've enjoyed the game since the beta, I really have to wonder if there *is* a set direction for what they're doing with Defiance. Aside from shifts to bring in more revenue via the Bit Store, it feels lately like there is no real "vision" for the game anymore. It is more like a checklist of "hey, let's get this done or that done." Silicon Valley - check. Some Season 2 tie-in stuff - check. Patches to fix stuff we broke - check.

But a vision? Not so much. I haven't felt as though the team had a guiding concept for the game since at least the tail-end of the Arktech Revolution release debacle with scaling broken. Since then, it all feels really haphazard and lacking in impetus.

I'm really hoping that will change as we get further into Season 2, and we'll all be pleasantly surprised. I just don't expect that to happen, though. It seems like Trion is in a position where their own passion for the game is gone or fading, so new content emerges less out of excitement and more out of simple obligation.

Good news indeed... but after all this time, I'm definitely on the "believe it when I see it" side.

Maybe i'm just an untrusting cynic but that whole post and the "future changes" felt to me like an afterthought, pure damage control, like someone realized "they are really pissed so lets say it's all part of a big plan and mention a couple of positive things that may or not come to be in an unspecified future, that will calm them down."

If not then why let things degenerate... again... if they planed to add those few positive things,
why not say it as soon as people started to complain, that would have calmed most people.

That text couldn't have taken long to prepare and write, too much work while letting things escalate seems to me like a poor excuse.

... but again maybe it's just me.

Isn't that business 101 for stupid people? Take something people are used to paying a $1 for. Raise the price to $4. Let everyone get good and pissed about it. Reduce price to $3. All stupid people get happy. 300% price hike.

I would like to take this moment to be serious for a few minutes and tell everyone a true anecdote. The company I work for (retail chain) did a price hike on an item and they were claiming new lower prices. A long time customer who has been ordering this item 5 days a week at the price it was for years, was suddenly questioning why the price was raised by more than 3 dollars.

Now having to demonstrate customer service and knowing this is a customer who always comes in and buys from us, I did the only thing I could. I sold the product at the price they were used to. This of course caught the attention of my manager who wanted to know why they were getting special treatment. I had to explain that we are in retail, customers are the ones who make our pay checks possible. There was a price issue and I took care of the customers needs.

I did not receive any sort of reprimand, and the customer was happy about the decision and purchased an extra unit that day.

Yeah sure I got that bridge for sale still :P.

Even if that is true they're going about this the completely wrong way.

Rewarding fidelity encourages positive attitudes. The most obvious things are also the easiest to oversee.

Perhaps the most ironic thing to be said on a Defiance forum? :)

Or am I getting my definition of irony screwed up again?
