This is a very early work in progress. I'm Just trying to get a feel the shape before committing to detail.

Seeing as Hulkers are humans, Dark Matter would not welcome them into their ranks, regardless of how powerful they may be. Maybe they could kidnap some Iraths and pump them full of drugs to make their own.

My idea was captured Hulker turned into a cybernetic weapon/slave. It would be a tool not a compatriot.

Well, even if you don't like the lore any suggestions on design? I'm on my 3rd or 4th iteration of the forearm and I'm still not liking it.

When I'm finished if Trion wants it I'll give it to them.

I think if there was a way for user content to be incorporated in the game it would increase interest and involvement. I would love to produce some custom skins or a coop map or mp arena. They should make a dev kit.
A full or partial texture package would be a fun challenge, too.

That would be awesome. I've got a few other defiance flavor characters that I'm working on.

I was thinking about this on the way home and it could be something else easily. Maybe call it the Behemoth; Dark Matter answer to the Hulker.

It will look much more Defiance like when I'm done. Yeah, right now it has that beefy space marine look.

The idea of a Hulker re-outfitted for DarK Matter means would be cool. Kinda reminds me of the Nemesis from Resident Evil.

OK I changed things around a bit and am going with the Behemoth idea. I think they are right. A dark matter enslaved hulker should be rougher.

Such a cool concept! I like the idea, it was mentioned that it looked like a Space Marine, and your later concept was less so. When I looked at it, the thought occurred to me about the dreadnaught suits in Warhammer 40k. I like the idea of giving him a power glove in his left hand for melee attack. You could use the same one that Defiance has (don't remember what it's called, but it's a red weapon you can equip & it's in one of the last SF hotshots.)

Anyway- some ranged weapon in right hand (Dark Matter version of Shotgun, LMG, boomer, flame thrower, etc) and the "Hulk Smash!" power glove on his left.

I like the power glove idea. If I can find a picture of it I can make a version of it. Anyone know what it's called?
BTW I'm still working on this. I'm doing the boring part of defining every plate on the character. I haven't done this stuff for a long time so I'm getting back up to speed.

Small update. The darker areas are finalized forms without any detailing. The lighter areas are still being developed.

Wow, I like the update pix as you can see it start to take shape. Looking good! Can't wait to see more. :)

BTW: the "Hulk smash" glove is called the "Pulverizer". I couldn't find any pix of it so far. I'm sure a forumite has a picture of one lying around. I do know there is a YouTube video of a hellbug Rampage where you have to use one but I am at a loss for its name right now. :confused:

EDIT: The Rampage is called "SMASH!!!", ironically enough. :D

I Like the way it's coming! I couldn't remember the name of the pulverizer, So you could use that, or a unique glove that goes with the armor. I'm including a pic of a Warhammer 40k Space Marine Terminator suit, for comparison. :cool:

Thanks for the pic. I changed the pauldrons because it was too space marine like.
Time to stop working on 3d for today, take nap and then do homework. Hopefully I'll have time to play Defiance tonight for a bit.

Remember, if you ever use Zbrush. Subtools are your friend.

Will do, but school is getting in the way, so going will be slow for a bit. My System Design class is going to take a big chunk of time :(

BTW I'm making 2 alternates to this. One will be the Formidable, and the other the Ark level. This is just the base level.

Also there would be no way this could be added to Defiance anytime soon.
On my end there is the tech fun of taking a model that is almost 3 million polygons and over 70 subtools and making it game ready. I have to texture the guy, then make an instance of it to retopologize it asa lowpoly model, Bake maps on xnormal, and rig for animation. Even after that's done Trion would have to say yes and then probably modify it to fit into their production pipeline.

If anyone has any texture or model information for defiance I would love to hear it.

Well When finished if Trion doesn't want them they will be going to the Unity store or Unreal marketplace.
Just wanted to add the blue guy is just a concept sculpt. I did 2 years ago and it's nowhere near finished. I'm going back and fixing all my mistakes.

OK, I finally remade the hands. Needs a lot more detailing and about 5 small parts modeled. Then it's retopology and UV time. Also blocking in cloros. Please interject if you have any suggestions.
