Hope you guys have a blast. Do me a favor and stop by SCUF gaming as I am in desperate need of a ps3, ps4 and xbone controller. Also, if you could, ask them if any of their controllers are wall/punch resistant.

Cheers!

Hi, What did you actually do at gamescom? And what are you going to do at PAX? Do you guys promote something? (This is simply a question not trolling post)
what happened to fixing the game and adding new real content? Tell us, we've been waiting for some info on this for quite awhile.

Have fun at pax. You could have shared the festivities by giving free patron pass for Labor day weekend 🙂

Darn it! They are only passing out codes at their event not their booth. I missed it.

Very interesting read.

One thing that the team wants to change is the abilities and ego perks into a class based system. Currently, the ego grid is a jumbled block of choices that Pettit called “convoluted and hard to understand.” So he said the idea is to revamp these by pulling them out into subclasses. Before the fear of getting locked into a class sets in, Pettit assured me, “You can switch your class at any time, but you have to level each class individually.” Furthermore, “You won’t be pigeon-holed into a class when you start the game.” The goal is to allow players to pick their playstyle, even if that changes from fight to fight.
Sounds like I may like this, especially if they have new story line to go with it, and maybe let us have another perk or three in our loadouts :D

Thanks L.E. that was a good find and interesting read indeed. I'd like to hear more details about this. Im wondering if it will limit what ego perks we will be able to equip according to class.

"To that end, Trion is expanding the Defiance team and also putting more resources behind it right now. "

Now this is something I'm delighted to hear!

I'm surprised more of the poster's that play on console didn't notice this(I play on PC, but I noticed)!

"Pettit is more than aware of the problem. “We need to reach more people, so we are working on possibly expanding into other areas, maybe other consoles,” he said. As it is now, the game is on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. “We want this game to last five years into the future, and PS3 and Xbox 360 probably aren’t going to be around in five years.”

I noticed that, and I wondered if that meant next gen consoles (I know Destro said this option was still on the table in a previous livestream) or something more retro!:

Im wondering if it will limit what ego perks we will be able to equip according to class.Yeah, I was wondering if they might use some kind of skill tree like other games for the EGO perks. Then it might be the case that you can only activate the red perk (in my random mock up below) if you activated all the preceding yellow perks. At the moment we may have up 4 directions to approach a perk, which seems more flexible. It really depends on the layout and how it's implemented etc :).

Currently, the ego grid is a jumbled block of choices that Pettit called “convoluted and hard to understand.” So he said the idea is to revamp these by pulling them out into subclasses. Before the fear of getting locked into a class sets in, Pettit assured me, “You can switch your class at any time, but you have to level each class individually.”

This statement has me a litle worried.
"Pulling them out into subclasses": would that lock the ego perks into the subclass they are pulled in?
“You can switch your class at any time": does not mean that we will be able to switch the individual ego perks of a class with ones from other classes, or does it?

I would be more than interested in a subclass system that would not act as a replacement to the actual system, but as an addition, maybe in the way of "default" or "recommended ego perks" for such or such subclass, while still having the possibility to override any ego perk in that recommendation with any other one, a kind of "advanced" mode. Or maybe have a "custom subclass" option with the ability to equip any ego perk that is unlocked. Or some other original way of merging the subclass and current system together, just please do not think about locking ego perks to exclusive subclasses.

I am interested in seeing how this replacement idea evolves, hopefully in a direction that would satisfy both old and new players.
