Hey how is this calculated.
I don't know what this option does inside the specifics of a weapon.
My base weapon does min damage of 379
it says crit multip is 1.5x
what does 1.5x mean on top of 379?

I think that critshots do extra damage (double?) then a weapon's multiplier kicks in....I have a pistol that wrecks but the crit mult and dmg dont add up without another factor being, uh, factored in.

A weapons crit multiplier is how much extra damage you will do when you hit the crit points on enemies. So a weapon with 379 damage plus a crit multiplier of 1.5x will do 568.5 damage on critical points.

Edit: There are enemies that will have a crit multiplier on there crit points and this gets added to your damage. EG: Rioters have a 1.5x crit multpier on there face normally.

Criticals happen with head shots or some NPC's that have really soft spots that double damage (like the riot guys with shields and shot guns, their fronts are weaker then the back so if you can melee them andshoot them the damage is higher but if you aim for their heads its just stupid soft like a tomato...or in the other case, Wandering Hulks do double damage of your weapon no matter where you hit...super soft target, but lots of hitpoints and a fist like the backhand of God)

Take for instance a VBI TACC Assault Rifle (which I think you are referring to from the numbers).

Base Damage: 379
Crit multiplier: 1.5

So a normal crit is 379*1.5=569.

Add a barrel that does 1.03x damage and damage goes to 379*1.03=390.
Now your crits would be 390*1.5=585.

Let's say this gun also has an inherent 1.15x crit multiplier bonus listed: 1.5*1.15=1.7 crit mulitplier.
The gun and barrel mod combined would then be 390*1.7=663 for normal crits.

As Lindrei mentions, some NPCs have super-critical spots where the crits get even higher. But hopefully just this little example shows how if you have a high weapon skill that gives you little bonuses, and inherent bonuses on the weapon, and mods with bonuses... they can all add up to a pretty decent increase in weapon effectiveness.

What I'm wondering if crit multipliers are additive or what? If my weapon skill has 1.02 crit multiplier, the weapon has 1.15, and a mod has 1.02, does that mean that the crit multiplier will now be 1.19?

Oh, that was already answered, nevermind.
