The accuracy stat in defiance is currently bugged. A higher accuracy stat is actually worse than a lower one. As in, adding a scope (+0.10 accuracy) will actually reduce your accuracy. Currently, an accuracy of 0 is supremely accurate and will not deviate from exact center. You can verify this yourself by buying any two shotguns with different accuracy stats. The higher stat will appear in green, meaning Defiance is telling you the higher stat is the better stat, but if you equip them and see the cone of fire for yourself, you will clearly see the one with the higher accuracy stat has a larger cone of fire.

EDIT: Here is a link to a video I made to provide proof. http://www.twitch.tv/nullplayer/b/391017212

Was wondering about that. My blue survivalist rifle got an accuracy nerf with a scope mod attached.

Exactly. Scopes effectively reduce accuracy in this game. I'm sure Trion is aware of this, its only a matter of time till its fixed.

A second video for those of you who want to point out that the first test I did was with a fan-like spread and a standard spread shotgun.

I cant watch twitch tv in order to avoid live streaming on my pc (long story) but are shotguns really the best example? Wouldnt it be better to stick to bolt or semi aut sniper rifles or assault rifles for such a test?

I noticed this too, glad it's not just me then! I was a bit puzzled with the whole "so... less accuracy = more accurate" concept.
