I tried mine, but I'm a total spaz in this kinda game. Works fab in MMORPGs. Thinking of rolling another toon and just forcing myself to use it. I find myself not nearly accurate enough with WASD, jump, roll etc on the PC keyboard.
Do you use one? Hows the little thumbstick working for you?

Dazz... c'mon man/woman/thing/it.... It's just like any game when you go to using the pad at first. I had the same issues when I used the g13 for STO and Borderlands. Once you get used to the feel of it it's actually easier to do a lot with the G13 then fartin' around with the regular board. I on;y use the board for the few and far between chat moments, :p

no problems here, been using it for a long time. mapped WASD to the thumbstick like i always do. was trying to map the joystick to it using x360ce, but it was erratic since there aren't enough analog functions in the g13 driver.

I used mine a lot in WoW and Rift and navigated with the mouse and loved it. Didn't use the thumbstick much. Actually used it to target (tab). You using the default profile or set up a special one for Defiance?

Bah, I always spend an afternoon with the game I plan on using the pad with and start from scratch. Default is fine and all but everybody's playstyle/twitch-factor/hand size is different.

Atm I'm screwin' around with the thumbstick for nades, ego activates, vehicle calls, and the map. Well ok tech I also use the center pop of the thumb stick to open the general hub but i'm thinkin about tossin that over to my Naga mouse. Not sure yet.

I use mine for every game that has WASD movement, which I bind to thumbstick and have the G4 button (default W i think) bind as spacebar.

thumbstick is so much better for WADS, frees up your fingers. can't move right and reload, or melee, or grenade with the default layout. wastes 3 fingers on movement instead of the thumb you'd only be using to jump.

I use a G13 for Defiance
Thumb joystick for movement.
Mapped the mouse click RMB aim on gamepad.
If I'm doing a vehicle time trial, I'll use my xbox controller.

why would you remap the right click? did you put something else on the mouse?

Just for personal comfort.
I also have roll, crouch, sprint mapped to my naga mouse.

I use a G13, but dont have movements mapped to the thumb controller.. have WASD set to G4,10,11, & 12.
Thumb Button 1 is jump, I have crouch, roll mapped to left and right on the thumbstick... so I can just flick it for quick dodging etc.

Rest are just a mish mash of stuff..

I can only assume all you pad users don't PvP. Otherwise your putting yourself at a big disadvantage.

Auto aim for PvE sure I can understand a controller would work fine.

Someone doesn't know quite what a G13 (http://www.logitech.com/en-ca/product/g13-advanced-gameboard) is do they? ;)

G13 works great. The only time it comes up short for me is driving.

Lol, yeah I noticed. I've been messing with mine and its hard to drive with. Toon movement not so bad tho.

It sucks for driving. I use an xbox controller for time trials. Regular driving its ok.

Not hi-jacking or plugging, but throwing out I tried the g13, but I prefer the playstation naviagtion controller + g9x. Best of both worlds for this type of game. Just a suggestion for those who like a stick and other traditional controller features, but not all the extra buttons =]

I'm big on peripherals, especially when it comes to compensating for things like that. This is a new one on the market (soon) and there are one of two other cheap foot buttons I've seen on Ebay, can't vouch for the quality

I wonder if rudder pedals might be an option for folks with upper body limitations.

that's what I just linked above, though it's marketed as a competitive gaming enhancer, it's a 4 way switch you control with your foot. could easily map it to WASD and use mouse movement, especially an MMO mouse with an extra 5-10 buttons. could really help some people. there've been a few threads about people needed help with certain events due to physical limitations, devices like this really go a long way to help them stay competitive.

I loves me my G13! It makes gameplay MUCH more streamlined. And, as someone else stated before, the ONLY time I don't use it is when I'm chatting. Otherwise? G13 in my left hand, my Marble Man Mouse in my right. Here's a screencap of my current loadout (doesn't show my vehicle setup, which I've only just started using):
