Funny thing is, I joked with my buddies yesterday when I saw the downtime would be 4 hours I said...."well that means it'll take 8 hours" guess that joke turn into reality.;)

It was like this with the last "content patch" why did anyone expect that to change?

And yet there is still that glimmer of hope.

Patch day makes the game impossible (and less fun) to play.

Play other games on patch day. Come back and play defiance the following day. I'm sure everyone has multiple games.

It's not just Defiance though, I don't play many MMO's but of the ones that I do play, when they issue a patch it usually takes double the time they said it would. So this is normal I guess. =/

Almost reminds me of that one commercial.

(Women) -I'll be there in 5 minutes.
(Men) -We've got 30 minutes.
(Women) -Ok, we just got another hour.

Forgot what commercial it was, but it is pretty accurate. :)

In any MMO, people expect patch day to have issues. This is a new MMO, so it's pretty much expected. Like a previous poster said, you should always double the downtime, and just hope it isn't extended extended extended downtime :P

It means you are a witch with the power of foresight and can make what you say come true. Expect a lynch mob and a pyre in the morning. Well, unless you write something else to the effect of 'Trion suddenly makes everything work flawlessly' or 'Malakai wins a secret contest for free computer upgrades for life'. Something like that.

I would, but I'm too busy playing a game of Solitaire. Best part? No patches, updates, or server problems. I just need to make sure I have all 51 cards.

I do not believe it is us that needs to learn a lesson here, but maybe there is room for improvement.

That's pretty much been the watchword for MMOs for the past 15 years, in my experience. The time between the update deployment and the inevitable shutdown and patch fix to the update is most always a 'play at your own risk or not at all' zone in these games.

Doesn't seem to matter how long they've been at it, or how many games they've got under their belts, more often than not something goes awry.

Dude I learned that like two patch days ago. I got on the computer, loaded the patcher, let it patch and then promptly closed the patcher and went to play something else. I didn't even try to log in. Zero was my level of surprise when I checked twitter later and saw the game was down.

It did come back up after 4 hours, BUT the patch allowed people to re-redeem pre order bonuses, ark hunter code bonuses etc. so they ripped it back off line.

Yup, first time i fired it up in weeks and this is what I get.

Evidently, Im very gullible.

*sigh* This is getting old. Actually it is not getting old, it is old. I know the devs left are probably swamped, but I just want to play my friggin game.

Thanks for listening.
