Have you stopped to consider that your Bits & Defiance store items are only good for the lifespan of the game?

All MMOs exist only aslong as their players and fanbase do so the situation for the game could change at any time.

At some point in the future, like all MMOs there may come a time that the Defiance servers close. If that were to happen, you would lose all access to any remaining Bits & Bit purchased items as currently the game is only available online on the servers that Trion provide.

There may come a time when Trion either choose to close the servers or are unable to fund the cost of running them. At this point, you would most likely not be compensated (even for Bits still on your account) and you would no longer have anything to show for the money you had invested in the game.

I'm not trying to put Defiance down or spread bad feeling towards it, thats the last thing I want. I just want people to consider what they do with their hard earned money.

And for anyone interested, personally I love Defiance & I have 1200 bits on my account at present.

I'm not giving them more money at all.
It's not worth it. I Totally loved the outfits. any new cool ones that come in I can live without.

They are beyond earning my purchasing power until they get stuff right.
I fear it will be far too long till that happens.

People Hit em where it hurts! they only fix things that cost them money and not your actual gaming experience.

STOP buying bits!
your boosts don't work anyway.

I take that into consideration with every game I usually play that offers transactions sooner or later it will become pointless but the way I started looking at it is that: "For the meantime I will at least have fun with it if I have fun with the game and want to add variety to my barbie character then I'll do that. The money won't be wasted if I ultimately have fun and enjoy my purchase." Least that's just me and how I justify it to myself.

Thats not the attitude I'm aiming for. I just want people to realise that in the long term, they could lose access anytime so they consider carefully.

Sorry that's the way I feel on top of your correct observation.
This game can go at anytime. It's nothing real world I can take away except for in the game.

Plus I've sunk a lot of money in the game already. Bought two highest tier of bits at the beginning got my inventory items and a bunch of cool outfits for the game.

I hoped things would get better however they keep disappointing and breaking not small things in the game but core elements.

Why should I/We give them more money?

Its kinda how I feel with all of the map packs I bought for Battlefield 3 or Black Ops II....once the new games come out (BF4 & COD:Ghosts), I trade in the old ones & lose the $$$ i spent on the packs...&^%#^ Shtako

that is for any game I mean think of DLC and then the company doesn't support it and you lose your system or your system is stolen...

But then can you reuse theatre tickets? Ciggerettes? I mean seriously how much money do we actually throw away on something we don't need? Bowling night? REALLY? RENT a movie? come on man before you say don't throw our money away maybe you should stop throwing yours out.

Thats the thing. You can't really tell anyone else what to do with their money. They know fully well that they are in-charge of whatever wealth they have, and what they can purchase with it.

As far as spending money goes in Defiance, I understand what the OP's intentions are for this thread. However, the same could be said with most things in life. Nothing you purchase will last forever, so you should enjoy it while you can. In the end, it only matters if you've had fun and didn't regret it.

This doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You are telling people not to spend money because a game that just came out is going to close it's doors? This is just a troll post, right?

I stopped buying bits along time ago when my weapons would vanish in the salvage matrix and the customer support email responses basically called me a liar. Wasnt expecting to get them back anyway tbh, But the email response i didnt like and because of that i wont spend money on this game.

Im not even going to buy the DLC.

I think people who played mmo game since like... Well, before Defiance... Should know pretty damn well how does in game cash shop works.
So, thank you very much for the advice, but it's nothin everyone didn't know about.

How exactly is it a troll post? Just because you don't understand does not make me a troll. I said nothing about the game closing, just that it could happen down the line.

Also try reading the first post again, assuming you even read it in the first place, I never told anyone not to buy anything.

Point is, MMO games dies eventually, all of them.
There will be a day when even World of Warcraft will shut the servers down... What will be of all the months (in some case years) worth of subscription fees?

Well thats just it, not everyone did or has played an MMO before Defiance. If they didn't think about it, whos going to point it out to them? Trion certainly won't.

Why do feel the need to reply to every post I make? What I've posted doesn't bother or apply to you? Fine, theres plenty of other threads on the forum, please move on.

Yeah, you are just the person who goes to the life boat while ship is still in port and screams to people to think about their safety.

meh...I bought bits to buy storage, and to slightly support the company.....when the bit store becomes the sole focus of a game, is the time to move on....so far, it's not.....here's to hope.....

Well done for evading my question, posting another pointless off topic post and contributing nothing worthwhile to the thread.

And you were calling me a troll.

You don't like what you see here, thats fine, you can stop reading at anytime, no-one is making you stay here.

I thought it was a troll post because telling people to worry about game closing after it just opened is a bit... nonsensical.
And as such telling them they shouldn't buy bits(yeah, yeah I read your post you are trying to "make them think about it", which is the same thing) based on your assumption that the game could close, to me looks the same as "End is nigh! Don't give TRION your money!". Just obscured slightly.

Ok I know you meant well and trying to be helpfull..... but....

Thats like telling people if they goto the cinema and the fipm finnishes that they will not be able to take the movie home with them. Or if you buy a cake and eat it then you will have nothing to show for it after you flush it away.
It's about entertainment and enjoying it for the time it is available. If this game lasts a year or 2 and it will most likely as im sure Ii read tbat characters will move platform. So if you spend 40 or 50 quid and you get a few years value from it then id say you were onto a winner.

This guy has it spot on. You're not making a value investment. You're playing a game. If you use 20 euros and have a better game experience for a weekend, it's worth it. If you want to make investments... the stock market is where you should be, or a Casino. The odds are probably better in the latter. lol

I think most of us whom are not kids kinda figured that portion of spending money LONG ago unless it was ment for just the kids who's parents hand over their checkbooks to then... carry on =)

Have you considered when you pay 6-7$ for a value meal... it turns into POOP in a couple hours!?

Or when someone pays 7$ for a pack of cigarettes they are actually burning the money!?

Oh or my favorite... put 40$ in my gas tank and its just GONE in like three days.

Compare that to spending 20$ on a truck I will get to go vroom vroom around in for several months to a year or more.. I don't really see it as a bad investment.

Hell you'll be luck to get away spending less then 20$ on a movie night.. and that's what.. 2 hours entertainment at best?

I would like to state that I bought bits before to increase storage, boosts to weapon skills and boosts for loot and exp when special events weekends were going on since I knew I would be playing for long stretches of time. But (yes there is always a but) with the info coming out from the video interview that the dlc won't be released til late July I no longer see a point in purchasing any more bits because there is no rush in my mind any more. Does anyone else feel the same way?
