View Full Version : Biggest problem with this game

It's not the content, it's not the bugs...for me, it's the fact that Smgs, Assault Rifles, and LMGs use the same ammo pool. I don't care if I get an unlimited supply of ammo a thousand times over, I cringe when I realize once all my LMG ammo is used up, I have to find a ammo cache to even use an assault rifle or an smg. Why is this a thing? In the history of everything with guns, why do these three weapons share the same ammo pool?

I'm not trying to insult or whine, but I'm playing the game solo, and I need ammo, why am I forced to resort to shotguns and grenade launchers. Solo'ing isn't the point of the game, and it's even encouraged to jump in with a group, but I don't have the patience to deal with people, so I get things done by my own two hands.

This pooling of ammo leaves me with Snipers (I'm not a fan of them) Explosives (I have no problem with them, but they run dry too.) and Shotguns (I love them like they were my children, but they are close range.)

Infectors are alright, and I have a few, but dear god they don't do enough damage, I even let the bugs run around pwning things left and right and still I run dry in the face of 15 enemies that can eat away my shields by looking at me funny.

Why do they share ammo? It's not for designs sake is it? That's not very good design...

You mean besides having Trion as the developer....

So, you want to have a SMG AND LMG on the same class? its a bit OP don't you think?

I wouldint MIND if Pistol ammo was shared with SMG, but that's about it...

It's almost like they borrowed every successful aspect of other MMO's (including their own) and made a hodge podge of patchwork crap we get to shoot stuff in.

Coz in the year 3040, the word "caliber" was abolished from the dictionary. Thus, everything came in 1 size. NERF DARTS!

In reality there are penty of examples of ARs and LMGs both using the amomo types. Not as sure about SMGs. This makes some sense as the less types of ammo you have to but on a truck/ship/plane the more you can ship and you end up with less shortages both in manufacturing or in the field. If you really want: How do FRC, VBI, EMC >AND< VOT weapons of any class all use the same ammo?

Actually in a way this would explain it, the universalization of rounds that is, it's happened before to other stuff. At least foR LMGS and ARS, SMGS should share ammo with pistols like hope said.

I used to run out of ammo all the time, then started using a BMG as backup. It's low damage but it never runs out.

Now that LMGS, ARs and SMGs are all level 20 I don't run out, but having said that I never use both types in the same loadout, I usually have a Grenade Launcher as secondary to my Assault Rifle for all things PvE, then specialised loadouts for PvP (two shotguns), Sieges (whatever weapon type I'm levelling), Sniping (Bolt-action/SMG) and Vehicular Manslaughter (I don't care I'm in a Cerberus or Infector/Shotgun).

I can see this being a deal breaker for some... but in my case, it has taught me to conserve ammo better than I normally do. Also doesn't hurt that I run around with Scavenger in my loadout. ;)

I agree it is a bit a pain in the arse they use the same ammo but what you can do is....SAVE CHARLIE!!!

I actually said in feedback in beta that I think SMGs and Pistols should share ammo, and they should up that ammo pool, as that would closer to reality. Though I am curious why the OP rules out pistols entirely in his post... two of the better guns in the game.. the Wolverine and Wolfhound.. are both pistol class... then theres the North Star Flare and VOT Blaster which are both respectable when used properly.

Really
For me it is actually the lack of content
10 or 15 minutes worth of episode content sort of is disappointing
especially since it only seems bi-weekly

I can see why they would do it from a balance perspective. All three of those gun types are rapid-fire and with the right perks/mods/weapons can do insane damage with just one clip. Being able to unload an SMG, and then suddenly busting out an AR or LMG to unload that, would suck quite a bit in PvP (if you weren't already dead). In PvE, it means you can't just hold the trigger down and mow through everything easily. You have to conserve ammo in more intensive fights and figure out which of those three weapons is better to use for the situation at hand.

Meanwhile there are plenty of other weapon types you can have in the second slot instead of another assault weapon. And there are probably some strong pistols out there that can give a similar feel to an AR at least.

But that's just my two cents.

^^^ Exactly, a purple VOT Blaster Modded correctly, is like a little AR or even a smg.

Plus maybe it's just me, but I find that it's much easier to line up headshots with a pistol (especially at longer ranges) than an AR/SMG because there's very little recoil. But then again I don't have access to the higher level weapons (I'm only around EGO level 400-500 since I play this game more casually) so I'm not sure if the recoil is able to be drastically reduced for those weapons later on.

A good old pump-action with 250 rounds is priceless when you're dry on your AR/SMG/LMG

I use AR/LMG/SMG, and never run out of ammo, maybe OP you should try to aim.

Exactly, and it's a good game design.
