Play free for a week /see if i like the game
a very wise decision other MMO's have done was let any newcommer play free for a week to see if they like the game before they buy... i cant see forking 40 bucks out for a game that doesnt look that amazing.... maybe if you guys offered some free time to newbies to get us hooked i might turn around and buy the game then.

They already did a free weekend through steam.

If you really want to try it out, use the gamefly 10 day free trial and rent the game for a little bit.

edit: Oh look, more shameless recruit a friend advertisements.

There has been free trial weekends made by steam but we don't know the next one.

What I am sure of though, is that the game is $20 cheaper (30%) than it was before. This sale is going to end sometime soon.

Standard edition is from $59.99 down to $39.99 and they're giving you 50 codes free so you can have bonus items and goodies to enjoy when you register now.

The link is on my signature in case you wanna sign up now, take the opportunity of a discount while it's still there.

Hate to be "that guy", but you can probably finish the main quest in a week fairly easily.

If you are into just doing the main quest and skipping everything else sure.

The most you'll see is a weekend trial due to the ability to complete the entire story content in a weeks time.

I highly doubt that you will see a free play week/weekend again for a long time. When they did it for steam, they got brutalized for the condition of the game...and it is has not improved much since then.

GW one has/had a 12 hour trial, that wouldnt be a bad idea actually.

I've already answered your question, the game is fun to play and quite frankly, this ain't a crap imitation of some other MMO like RO2 (WoW imitation fail). Maybe it got Rift's elements but that's okay, Rift is also good, that's why.

Our clan has a lot of newbies and either I recruit them out of nowhere to let them feel they're part of the game, or they PM me, telling me they want to join. If in case you've bought the game, just pm X64 and i'll be willing to help you out with almost anything.

Again, check my signature. 40 bucks is better off than the orig price that most of us bought at 60. 30% discount this early is actually generous of them.

If you judge the game primarily on the main quest though, you don't have the full bit of information.

For the week you have - do whatever you want. Play like you naturally would. If it doesn't hold you, then that's that.

It would be a good idea for them to start doing free weekends again once the game is in better shape, assuming the game isn't a ghost town by then.
