I think Amanda might win, to keep up with the current status quo. Or something else will happen to prevent the election from coming to fruition, giving some characters a reason to groan about "circumstances" in the next season.
But for the show's sake I hope the "Status quo" trope doesn't kick in. If Datak wins, stakes will become higher and things will become a lot more interesting.
Whoever becomes mayor is unimportant. In the end the winner is ... the hellbugs.
This is the last episode of the season isnt it? If I were the writers, and knowing I had a 2nd season coming up, Id be evil and end the episode like:
*vote counter walks out* The votes are all in and counted, the winner is .... *fades to black and can hear crowd cheering*
But I doubt they would do that \ >_< /
I'm gonna be so pissed when they kill Tommy.
If the writers do think an E-Rep takeover is a story worth telling, then they just might play it in Datak's favor. Marsh assumes Datak will rig the election. I think Rafe will bring the miners out for Amanda, and Datak has the castithan vote. I'm not sure how the math works out.
I have a feeling the outcome will depend on some events of a much larger scale. A few episodes back they did more of a preview of rest of the season, and there was some material related to Irisa's destiny that we haven't seen yet.
I think Tommy might be a "surprise" death-- even though a lot of people are already calling it.
On the other hand they've kind of been setting up Kenya as a tragic figure for a while. She says things and makes decisions that she thinks will make her feel more in control, but they don't really work out for her. I think the real surprise for her would be if she can turn her luck around and survive.
There is a 95% chance we will not be finding out who wins the election.....but I am very curious about what the "unthinkable" is...possibly rynn killing tommy
Rynn will be the "unknown" in this episode.
For people who do not play the game she isn't the hero we know her for and probably expect her to try and kill Nolan or Irisa, we know her to be a bit more level headed than her temper in the show.
IF they can balance that out for the "collective" we (the all rounders who play and watch) that will be something of interest for us, but I doubt they will do that since they don't totally explain things anyway and have so much going on with only a 45 minute show, my hopes are fading for many of the resolves this season we need in both game and show.
I don't quite know what Stahma did that would have reflected her time with Kenya unless it was just "daytime" (non bath) sex. Interesting little flap there she has on her dress too... :p
I hope Amanda wins, we dont need Datak as the Mayor.
The previews show her and Tommy captive by E-Rep, so I'm guessing she helps them out. Killing Rynn makes little sense to me in terms of story telling. It's like "OH HAI guess u shoulda stayed in da Bay area lul!" if she ends up dying. Some good conflict could happen between her/Irisa if or when Sukar wakes up. On the show, she isn't that important of a character to kill off, though in the Defiance expandeduniverse she's quite important in terms of impact all told. She's the only one in St. Louis area who knows Echelon is coming.
I can forsee Datak winning, but losing Stahma at the same time, making it a pyrrhic victory of sorts where he's damaged and gets no joy from it. It would be fun to see him as mayor because he'd have to govern for everyone and handle the daily grind. Getting elected is the easy part, it's governing the people that takes work(just ask Mohammed Morsi over in Egypt lol). The previews set up Stahma to **** of Defiance and I can't see how she'll be happy standing by Datak's side after he threatens to gut her.
Stahma is his brains and the ring leader of everything he does. Remember before her he was no one she made him someone and still does. If he goes against her it will he she who is on top.
Tony and Jaime and Julie and Grant have been bantering MORE than ever the last week and it's been a hoot to watch. Tony has been the most proactive when it comes to "tidbits" even joking with Jamie about the foreboding rift coming between them. Either it will happen or it won't but they are surely teasing about it.
It appears by the preview Datak takes Stahma for granted and his Castithan male pride won't let him admit(or he doesn't realize) how much she actually does for him. It would be an awesome dynamic to have him become mayor and slowly realize how pathetic and weak he is without her support in-person and behind the scenes. Stahma did boast to Kenya that they're a team, but I don't think Datak would quite agree with that.
If Datak wins the election I'm calling Battlestar Galactica.
Stahma can manipulate Datak all day long, but if he guts her at the end of it it won't make much difference.
She claims to love him for his willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve his (Stahma's) goals, I'm guessing because she lacks that quality herself, but when that cruelty is turned on her in the preview she is visibly shaken and has clearly lost some of her control over him. Whether or not she comes out on top will depend on if she can maneuver herself back onto Datak's good side before he bites the proverbial hand that feeds him. Less likely, and only because I don't think Datak will die, Stahma could find that willingness in herself, kill Datak before he kills her, and take his place as Mayor.
The one I really feel sorry for in all this is Alak. You can tell that that kid's head has been screwed with so much that he can't tell if he's coming or going.
Something tells me Datak is completely aware that Stahma is Lady Macbeth'ing him, he just never says it. Just the body language when she starts suggesting things.
Or maybe he's just a damn good actor. (And he is), and as a result it's giving us inaccurate subtext.
I saw a picture of Kenya in the woods aiming a gun at Stahma....so, that probably wont end well...
Just remember, "Everything is Broken" ;)

Check the second post on the left(DIdn't want to post the pic because it's huge). Datak covered in red blood. Pretty much confirmation Kenya or Amanda die, likely Kenya.
Kenya does seem more expendable.
I think Datak wins the election. It will really spice things up come the second season. On another note in the radio station there is a wanted poster with the name Jeff laidlaw. Is that the winner of the in game contest?

I feel that Amanda will win but that it will be a close race. That Datak finds out his wife Stahma is cheating on him and he flips out.
I saw another video where the earth republic has everyone line-up and shooting them with Tommy being next in-line to be shot and shows Nolan and Irisa hiding in the woods watching. I think Rynn comes in to save the day.
I hope they don't off Tommy, but I believe they will because I don't think Irisa is meant to be happy.
With the amount of time that the camera was on the poster I thought for sure it was him, but the announcement post says the winner's name is Zachary P. It's possible that they used the winner's picture and changed the name, but it's hard to be certain. I'm sure they'll talk about it on "Across the Badlands" after the show.
I also hope they don't kill Tommy, though his death would serve a purpose to make Irisa go ape****. lol
I was thinking about it, and Datak might not be the one who kills Kenya if she does die. The blood could be from Colonel Marsh, who is seen the past episode scheming with Datak. Like let's say Datak wins the election and then refuses to deed the mines to E-Rep? That would definitely cause **** to hit the fan. Sukar isn't dead btw, he's just a vegetable. The irathients in the plague episode were getting medicine for him.
I'm still betting on Kenya and Tommy dying, but I'm also going to add Colonel Marsh. Just a feeling here. Mia Kirschner was also considered a headlining character being at comic con 2012 with the other stars and now in 2013 she isn't attending... so... yeah... Jesse Rath is taking her place, though he's admitted to being a huge nerd who loves comics and comic con anyways.
I was watching Warehouse 13 and it showed Irisa having silver and gold strings coming out of her. I hope Tommy stays on the show also. I bet its Colonel Marsh that gets killed.
From an image preview, Datak has cuts all over his face and blood on his hands... take it how you will.
Hardy they wont be the first person to Kill off an African American first Several Movies have done this scenario most of them horror films just like they Kill off the Cute ones before they Kill off the ugliest lol... point being it wont Surprise me if they do kill off Tommy plus i personally never liked his personality he's to laid back and it just doesn't fit the whole (defiance) theme but then again since so many issues with Trion i started to lose interest in anything Defiance related any way lol XD
POSSIBLE SPOILERS IN THIS LINK

Has some lead up to the final episode and hints as to what is to come... (Most if it people probably have already heard, but still... :))
Reading that, it might be Datak who has to hide out in the Bay area instead of Stahma if he ****s over E-Rep. But I got from that TV guide article that Tommy and Kenya are toast.
