Guide to soloing Volges

I will be brief.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Syphon FRC SAW
2. Blur + Second Wind + Endurance Runner
3. Thickskin + Fortified Stance + Hunked Down
4. Respark shield

Basic Stategy:

1. Move yourself so that no more than two can hit you at any time. Preferable just one. All emergencies have some cover.
2. Couch and blast his head. Keep blasting until he dies.
3. Regenerate shield behind cover. Repeat step 1.

Advance Tips. (mainly for elites)

1. Blur prevents knockbacks. Save it against foes that does their annoying knockback attacks.
2. Dealing enough damage (especially to their head) will knock back them. The best defense is offense. You can kill them before they kill you. (usually)
3. Control your FRC SAW fire, don't let it go wild.
4. Take cover when reloading. (Normally can kill 3-5 non-elites per reload)
5. Be brave. Volges are like class bullies, if you stand up to them, you will win. :)

I just use a meteor bolter, a wolfhound and cloak. No siphon rolls. I'm not that lucky.

But I'm sure this will help someone out there.

Dat burst damage is what its all about. Once their shield is gone they can be repeatedly staggered with headshots.

AR with siphon, BMG. Wolfhound, SMG. Bolt sniper, LMG. Cookie cutter overcharge build. Detonator, Vot mass cannon. Explosive build.

Anything works if you know how to play. With a coordinated buddy these would be even easier.

The purpose of this guide is actually to show, what I believe, to be the fastest way to beat them. None of the jumping/barrel roll ninja stuff that takes ages. Just couch, shoot, kill and loot.

Era will probably come in and tell me wolfhound is the fastest. Well I actually haven't tested out exactly which one is the fastest/more consistent, but SAWs are definitely the easier one of the two for most people.

And as Jack Johnson has summarized, the key plan is to deal enough damage to stagger them so they wouldn't be able to attack you. There is no way to output that much damage without the will to tank them face on.

No real strategy needed. Just need to be able to kite them a little. Don't go for them in the open when you have nowhere to hide.
A corner, a big rock, power generator for the street lights, is all you really need. Oh, and try to pick them off one at a time. If you get all 3+, then you are pretty screwed regardless.

I tried it, it works.... If it's a "normal" emergency with 3 troopers + 2 troopers and a bomber and a Viscera finish. It's over in a couple of minutes (Alexri does it in 1½ in the video and I'm not there yet). I swap with a Syphon Sniper and not a shotgun though if it's in the open...

Shield and perks seems unrelated with this loadout, I do how ever know my shield is a 2.x or 3 second one…

You can use whatever shield works, but I switched to an Ironclad since I realized I was recharging it using Syphon anyways

Is a Tachmag better than a saw? I have not had any luck with the Tachmag :/

I've recorded more vids, but don't know if there's any point in uploading them. Point being, they show that I average about 1-1.5 minute for each emergency, regardless of what type it is. Since it's a ton of fun watching people take on the Volge, I've seen quite a few people try with a SAW, and let's just say they're not what I would call quick.

Tachmag is highly accurate, even while moving and from the hip.

I scout around and find other mobs nearby...Raiders, 49'ers, hellbugs, etc. I run through their area and draw them over to the Volge. After the Volge start shooting at them, I target 1 Volge to get its attention...and run for cover. Take it down as it gets closer. Repeat on the other one and third one. Second wave appears...rinse & repeat.

I killed a full emergency of every type of Volge my first encounter with them. I was solo and my PvP loadout of Cloak + Courier is all that was needed. Also I used the "advanced weaponry" available on the ground... that made quick work of them.

That's why I use a VOT Fragger as a backup; shotguns essentially never run out of ammo. It is also very capable of killing volge, so it's a good fit.

Getting a bit of a VOT Fragger fetish. My main one is a fully synergy modded Rolling Thunder one, but I also have run and gun, brutal, and stalker ones with synergy mods

Shotties feel so weak going up against Volge though. It wouldn't be too bad if you could hit-stagger them while their shields were up, but only explosives flinch them when their shield is up.

Do they come in various difficulties or something ? Those I met so far I just kited around a little with my bolt action sniper. Never had a problem unless I didn't pay attention.
