You make it Autumn, make minor arkfalls less lucrative, and you make PvP more rewarding. Then you'd see more people playing PvP.

People need to realize that this is a primarily pve game. They added the volge and they made minor arkfalls worth doing, so of course there are going to be less people doing pvp. They're farming the volge for drops and doing minor arkfalls for keys.

If they want people to pvp, they'll have to add rewards in pvp to match the amount of effort required to get similar rewards in pve.

No, there's a *lot* more to it than that. PvP in this game has several problems. For starters, it's not sufficiently rewarded for the time spent, espescially with respect to win versus loss. The daily/weekly contracts for PvP are also typically significantly more difficult to complete than other dailies which can often be completed in 5-10 minutes. For example, today I got kill 10 people in a *turret* in capture and hold as my daily echelon contract. This can only be completed on freight yard (which is often a 15-30 minutes queue for a 10 minute game), meanwhile it's 16 on 16 with 1 Cerberus with 2 turrets, if everybody has this daily how are we all supposed to get it done? The devs clearly didn't think it through very well.

Then there are all the weapon and perk balance issues. Cloak is practically mandatory, failing that overcharge. Full defensive perks also mandatory or expect to get one shot a lot

could it also be that alot of people are havein fun with the volge?

They nerfed the crap out of PvP rewards a few patches back. It used to be one of the best ways to farm XP and keys. Now it kinda sucks.

Doesn't mean that there isn't a lot of people playing, many like me, could care less about PVP oriented aspects of the game and simply ignore it.

i personaly wish theyd just remove pvp from the game completley because then i wouldnt need to worry about cry babys asking for more of my guns to get nerfd
also i guess the devs never thought that when they nerf all the best guns in the game and everyones favourite toys turn into pea shooters you remove all reason for the majority of people to ever play pvp

Some of us are just more PVE oriented

It's ok to be carebear. Being scared of competition with real players as opposed to a mindless AI is normal for some people. But it doesn't mean PvP should have to suck for those of us who do enjoy it.

If you want 'competition' and a challenge, go and play ARMA. There's nothing remotely difficult at all about this. That said not everyone is the same, but to say that there's real competition in Defiance PvP.. This game is mainly focused and centered around PvE, PvP as it stands right now is nothing more than a mere novelty. The only purpose it serves at this moment in time is to complete those pursuits and if you're a console player to gain achievements; that is it, there's nothing else other than that.

I saw people making a group for doing the volge, getting all the people they can for it. Then later, seen 4 people practically solo it. I guess its fun to be over powered for an event that can be done with only a few people.

FYI, I think there is more people playing then everyone realizes.

Ever notice that whenever you group up for anything and then do a co-op or pvp at the end of it, everyone seems to spawn in the same area but on different servers? Meaning you always have too click go to friend to continue with your group.

Same with if you try too get a clan together, once you hit 10+ together, everyone starts getting time outs and disconnects.

Shadow Wars are the same thing, once you get enough people together too play one, bring on the lag and disconnects. For this reason, many people won't play them. Until they fix issues like this, no matter what the population, they will never become popular.

I also think the min number of players needed for a shadow war should be lowered, but the max can stay the same.

I just need 9 more capture points and I don't need more shadow wars the wait is stupid.

I think Shadow Wars should take place on a separate shard away from all the barneys, with reduced emergency count, and no arkfalls in its vicinity. We already have enough load issues, draw distance is bad etc...

If you want people to PvP you have to make it lucrative AND make it balanced, as it is aiming is a detriment to winning in this "skill" based game. Not exactly fun or competitive.

There's the possibility for the developers to move the locations for shadow wars to areas that are away from the events and what have you that you mentioned. What is that possibility? Well, when they start to expand the world map beyond the boundaries that we're currently limited to they could design one or two deserted areas for shadow wars to take place in. Whether or not they would do such a thing is yet to be seen though, it would help spread everything out I reckon - but only when the game world has been expanded in the DLCs after the first one.

The best way to reduce queues is to display the number of players needed for next games in the Matchmaking Menu (not the quick one, I'm talking about the one you access via the F7 key).

I gave up on PvP a few weeks back. Too much Immunizer, Cloak, and Shotgun abuse. It's just not a fun PvP environment. So I play PvE in Defiance and PvP elsewhere.

    This.

The 47th Legion recently had to expand a platoon from four to six squads, we're getting 3-6 apps per day; we're busier now than we were at and shortly after launch.

I see more players than I ever have at quick travel points, tons roaming the game world, et cetera. PC population is very healthy.

Yeah, I haven't played in a while, and was surprised at how many people I have seen today.

They need to add shadow wars stuff to the echalon contracts... particularly roadkills. More people on vehicles would make getting vehicle destructions for the pursuits a lot less tedious.... And give people a reason to que.

Peak time is fine managed 2 shadow wars while everyone was online got the pursuit for 50 points then the server kicked me and unable to join anymore. Managed 3 games of frieght yard but not once got in a cerebus. They need to increase the amount of vehicles as some people just sit in them and won't move till you get out. I am not bothering with this daily contract as now it is after 10pm its impossible to get in a match just see 15 - 21 people waiting. Also noticed people off the map in frieght yard today where they could not be shot. I also remember reading on here that people were cheating in shadow war but I did not think much of it. Yet today on 2 capture points in each game was about 6 players just standing right on the capture point and then one actual SW player would appear making it near impossible to shoot them or work out what was going on.
Then on PVP what is with the permanent cloak and people who are able to go into cloak right at the start no ego delay I now there is weapons that boost ego length etc but you cant start the match in cloak and I have run into a couple of unbreakable shields today. Never had any issues with this until past couple of days.

I am very glad I am down to my last pursuit need to run over another 10 people or so and get trusted with echelon then I doubt I will play PVP unless they make major changes.

I think this has more to do with it then anything. Ive seen more people on lately during arkfalls and other such tasks then I have in the entire time ive played the game. Now that they have worked a few of the bugs out, if you can get past the boring repetition, its not so bad anymore. Like Flippy here, ive never concerned myself with the PVP aspect, hell i've only got 2 of the pursuits for it done and im EGO 4110. So yeah, I have to think that people are just more concerned with PVE then the PVP. Lets face it, the PVP in this game is just generic and barely works in the first place, even with good rewards, its still just something to break the repetition of replaying the 1 storyline over and over and over and over...

what on earth do you do to get to ego 4000 + without getting bored? I am nearly at 2500 and it is just the same thing every day the contracts are the only thing to do and replaying the story I am struggling to see a point in trying to make 4000.

I'm not far behind you in terms of me ego rating, but as to your question; i personally mix up how i play. Some times i'll just log in and do some contracts other days i run round doing emergencies or arkfalls and sometimes i just wander back through Mt Tam at random for no reason other than to test or practice with new weapons. It's also fairly easy to pile on Ego rating during the bonus XP weekends i've found. I've only been playing for a fraction over a month and i am well over 2k ego. If i had been playing since day one my ego would easily i suspect have hit 4k+ and i will never get the social or PVP pursuits finished.

About the same time I have had it then.. I guess when I get bored I play another game and come back to this when I have the patience to grind away at my final 3 achievements lol
