Now that other people have seen the name "Black Hand," you better hope it's going to be available. :) I like to, at least sometimes, go with names that are a little humorous and that are neither "fantasy" nor "sci-fi," or any other particular genre. They can fit in just about any kind of game. Notice I said "humorous" and not "crude." :) I went just about over-the-top silly with "Mister Poopypants" on DCUO. I don't generally pick names that are that "out there," but with that one, I did it for several reasons, and none were so totally serious. It was sort of on a whim. Anyway, names that a lot of people know from a lot of different games, books, shows, movies, are chosen quite fast. I tried things like Matrim Cauthon, Perrin Aybara, Rand AlThor, and others (in other games), and they were all already in use. That's also another reason I go for names that aren't always so serious. I can come up with names that aren't so serious, and that I am 99% sure aren't already in use, and it's quite easy. I have used names that people might need to say out loud before they really understand the small "joke," and it might give them a little chuckle. That's what I will do here. It may look and sound kind of like a "serious" name until you give it a little thought or say it out loud. That's exactly what I want. Anyway, that's my two cents.

Oh, now that I think about it, you could always go with a name of a music group, maybe a name said or referenced, or implied by a song or TV show or movie. You could have something as simple as Jack Ryan, if you are a human. The story of "Defiance" isn't set so far into the future that they've started using incredibly unusual names. I am not including "Black Hand" as being incredibly unusual. Not really. I don't want you or Brock to think it's a weird name or anything. I think it sounds really cool. However, I bet someone will take the name "Black Hand," unless you are fast enough to snatch it up. I bet a fair number of people are thinking like Brock (That's really a compliment to Brock if you think about it). Be prepared to find other names. You could use names that come from great sci-fi/fantasy novels, that people here would possibly miss. "Jim Nightshade," or "Mister Dark." Maybe "Dust Witch" would be good if you ever consider a female character. In the end, you may want to look at people like Bradbury or Asimov, or J.M. Barrie, maybe L. Frank Baum, or anyone such as those. You could also go with names that are used, or inspired by Stephen R. Donaldson, who wrote the "Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever Chronicles." As I said, there are many ways to go. I guess I could keep going with author names. Edgar Allen Poe, Anne Rice (although anything to do with "The Vampire Chronicles" got to be too taxing for me). Sorry, all these names just jumped out at me. I couldn't help it. Parts of this post also might have something to do with the type of drink I have consumed. With that in mind, I hope you could understand what I said. Haha. :p
