Those if you who are married and game...and your wife is NOT a gamer.....I feel your pain.
You know it's bad when I have to send her out to get her nails done or go tanning or what ever women do just so I can get a few hours of gaming in.
Ps. I'm sure it's the same way with women who game and there husbands don't (but I don't think I've ever met a guy who doesn't game)
My husband used to... but now he got himself an allottment so he can grow stuff while I kill things for 4-5 hours a night... Gone are the days when i could game carefree when I wanted... but at least the kids are in bed early enough I get a good amount of time. Nails? Tanning? Pfff! lol! Waste of gaming time!
I think sometimes wives are happy that their husbands sit home playing video games on their free time (unless they sit home all day and do nothing else). If the guy is able to show that he loves you and care about you then it's nice to have some time to spend with friends without him. The main thing is the dude must have a job, brains, *ick and money, also would be nice if he actually listens to what you say and sometimes spend the time together the way you like.
To do all this above takes a lot of effort for a guy - I can't (or dont want to) do it all yet so I just work and play video games, don't talk/listen to anyone and feel all right the way it is for now.
Basically if she complains about your gaming you either don't look at her anymore or you don't do anything else but game and you're both unhappy because of it. Take her out somewhere once in a while - maybe there were some places you used to like to go or you've both always wanted to go to?
I usually only game when she's not home, and the weekends are "us" time
Weekdays are just a blur with work and all the other **** we have to do
No kids tho, if I had kids I would probably have to give up gaming...
....or at least until there old enough to play with me lol
Nooooooooooo, you just have to be organised..mine are young, so are in bed by 8.30pm. With the other chores done it's time to chil and relax with friends. I know my husband has had to 'adjust', but all we did before was sit in front of the TV anyway so I don't think we really miss out. We still have time together too. Its all about striking a balance. (And if I'm happy, then so should he be ;p)Quote:

At my work there are much more women than men and my best colleague and friend has her husband playing games on PC. As far as we have spoken about it she isn't exactly mad at him for gaming. When she is mad at him then everything he do or do not do is wrong anyway:). She says he also like cooking and it's very nice to come home in the evening and have dinner ready so he can play his games after and she can watch her favourite serial on TV.
From what I have seen the best people (the ones I truly respect and think of them as my friends) have totally different husbands/wives - they work in totally different line of work, they have different hobbies, they are absolutely different characters. Probably it's just not interesting to live with an exact copy of yourself.

Let me jump in here knowing a little about marriage and Gaming with a nom gaming spouse vs a gaming one.
Either way was not all that horrible, the lack of other shared interests made things worse not the gaming in either marriage.
As long as you make time to spend with each other and both have hobbies that are time occupying things do go smoother. Throw in the date night if you can or quality "us" times as you mentioned. Things should be good I have had 2 marriages with shared interests being little to none in both. The first one was massive abusive and toxic due to lack of time spent together among a few other things not gaming, the second to a gamer was actually pretty sweet as I had my hours on end gaming times.
I have been gaming since I can remember my parents did it, when my son was old enough to mash buttons he was playing as well.
I always make/made sure my day was complete housework done, errands done, food done and son and husband needs taking care of then of to the world of games..
I've never been married but I've dated both gamers and non-gamers. It's obviously better to date a gamer, but I still much rather prefer to be alone. Even if you're with a gamer, there's times when you want to game and they don't.
I dunno. It could just be me, but I'm always happier when I don't have to worry about anybody else but myself.
Your Spouse doesn't have to be a gamer. they just have to accept that you are, and still love you anyways without wanting to change you. There have been a few folks here that hit the nail on the head... balance. balance in life. this is the great creator of harmony.
and for the record, I am married, and while my wife isn't a gamer per se, she likes watching, but has a hard time getting into something more in depth than Pac-man or candy crush type stuff.
I work second shift so I play a lot on days off while everyone (wife and kid) are asleep. They play Lego games together sometimes so it's not like either of them hate gaming. They both like to watch me play some games, like God of War or Devil May Cry.
When my daughter was 6 she used to love watching me play Fallout 3 nailing zombie heads to subway walls with the "rail" gun. She liked it because it was scary but I would make fun of it. When we heard the zombies in the tunnels I'd say, "It's your boyfriend!" and she'd go "Nuh-uh!" As you could hear them getting closer I'd go "where is he, where is he" and when it poped up she'd yell "There!" I'd shoot it with a railroad spike, the gun would make the train whistle noise, and she'd laugh like it was the funniest thing she'd ever seen. She always wanted me to find the head nailed to the wall to show her. I spent so much time in those subway tunnels with that gun. My wife thought it was goofy, but she got into it too.

My husband isn't a gamer. If we have a day off together then its family time. If its my day off then I play while he is at work. On the days we both work, we work at different times. What really effects my playing time is wrestling the PS3 from my son.
Actually, we fight over the XBOX.

this is something you should sort out before you get married, just my opinion (from someone who has never been married).
this is the best thread thus far lol. back when my wife an i were just dating, she HATED my gaming needs. but after 10yrs of dating an 2yrs of marriage. shes actually found a positive of me gaming. im not out being reckless, or at the bars, etc. im home with her. i spend the weekends with her, but week day afternoons are game time if im in the mood. she games sometimes as well, but i dont consider anything on wii "gaming" lol. so whatever you wanna call that, thats what she does haha. when she talks i "try" to listen, if she ask me to do something, she knows it has to wait until im at a save point or a safe point for me to set my controller down.

My wife loves that I'm a gamer as it keeps me off the streets, so I'm cool with that because I don't like to drink anymore.
Well, when we got together, he was more the PC gamer and I played now and then on his PS1. But he bought me a PS2 for my 30th, and then a PS3 after our second child was born 'Quote: A bunch of flowers wasn't going to cut it'. As a happily married woman i have to say im.glad I married a gamer but also , the only.time.we ever.argue is when we're.questing together and he wants to go do something I dont feel like doing or already done and sometimes I wanna play alone ,so I do sometimes long for the time.when I could do wtvr i wanted and explore.wtvr I felt like without having to explain myself...haha..
