Open the Servers please

Did you try to install the game to confirm the size of the file?

Or it won't work till the patch comes out?

I'm one of those that have managed to preload already (obviously can't play until the servers are open mind), my Defiance folder is just over 10gb. There may well be more to come over the weekend I'd say.

My defiance is 5gigs. No game install just patches. 3 x 1.7 gig patch data and 40kb patch data.

The back of the box says. 10 gigs hard drive space required

I dont know the values without patching, but with patches to v.1.449730, size should be: 10,4 GB (11*266*648*985 bytes).

Well the box says 10gigs. Guess the game runs of the disc. I thought it would be like ff11 which installed all data to hard drive

I think many people would be okay with that especially those who have the copy but in the end would probably get mad becuase there characters got reset on the 2nd when the day actually comes out. So not opening the servers just seems to be the best idea if you ask me.

Damn lol, i have my copy on the shelf already! It's itching, i'm impatient and REALLY wanna play right now!

Then again, i do understand i have my copy because of a very nice retailer that made sure my copy arrived at my doorstep before the easter-madness with the postal services. For which i'm grateful, cause now i know for sure to be playing on the releasedate. I also do understand that not every retailer has done this, and not everyone has their copy available yet. Personally, i would be pretty upset if they would open the servers early and i didn't have my game yet. Fully understandable that Trion will not open up before the set releasedate, it would simply be unfair to the ones less lucky then i was. And a global reset on launchdate after opening servers now? Why would Trion put up with more -unnecessary- work than they already did with producing this great game lol!

I'll be watching a lot of soccermatches this weekend, trying to ignore the unbearable itches, and be as patient as i can possibly can. April 2nd will come, and i will be there... For now some compassion with the less lucky ppl is in place.

I'm really beginning to get irritated with you people. Just because a company went against the rules and sent you a copy of the game before it was released, does not give you the right to play it.

The released date was set in stone long before you got the game (might even be longer than you had it pre-ordered).

Because you're not supposed to have the game!

Try going into a Gamestop, EB Games, Best Buy, Walmart, Future Shop or any other store that would sell Defiance and ask them if you can buy it and take it home with you now. They will all say the same thing. The release date is April 2nd, so it doesn't get released until April 2nd!

The servers open on the 2nd, people get the game on the 2nd... People will play on the 2nd.

You knew full well that you wouldn't be able to play until then when you pre-ordered the game. But now that you got the game early (which you shouldn't have), you feel that you have the right to play it? No...

Ex. You buy tickets to a concert that's on May 3rd. You get your tickets in the mail 20 days before-hand... Now because you have your tickets, you want the concert to start 20 days earlier because you paid for your tickets, you have them now, and you have no patience what-so-ever...

Some people just need to learn to be patient. I just hope launch goes smooth and no major server crashes/disconnect/missing items etc..

i dont expect the server to be open'd early.. i just dont see what the problem is having the discs already to play the 1st few mins into the server opening... like 12:01am what ever.

i went into the store and asked and they said no you cant have it early.. so dont worry aparently its a £5000 fine for selling games that aint released yet

I expect server carnage but hope everything will be smooth. That way I ain't annoyed . Seen to many launches to expect major problems on day one.

Some games have their server open weeks before the game goes live and people always find a way to steal copy..In this case i don't think the servers are even up, so even with a copy it would be useless..Or many of us wouldn't be posting on the forums, would be in game grinding.

The servers will have problems and will probably go down on the first day. That's pretty much a given. If they don't have any problems and everything is smooth-sailing though.... Then Trion will have my utmost respect :)

Easy now fella. They are just excited. They got the game early, and they really want to play. You can't blame them for wanting to play. The disc is going to stare at me until Tuesday, and that is just the way it is. We are all going to have to be patient, but I can fully understand why people want to get on thè game and play. They're excited, and their copies are likely legitimate, so cut them a little slack huh? Yes, some are 'Demanding' the servers be open or claiming they are 'Entitled' to play immediately. I agree with you, that is wrong. But that's only some people. Most are just excited as hell and can't wait to play. I'm in that catagory. I didn't expect much from the Beta, and after about 10 minutes I was thinking I'd be giving the full game a miss. But 2 hours later when it froze on me, I was absolutely devastated because I was having so much fun.

How is this thread not locked. Sledge already said the servers would open at 12:01 EST. Plus you guys should be utterly elated you got the game early, as opposed to late. Half of the people on the forums won't be getting a midnight launch, let alone a copy til the 12th in the UK because of Amazon.

Rift, Trions first mmo launched without a single issue, and they were quick to bring up new servers as the initial servers filled; for Defiance's release that would be adding more hardware to handle extra shards. However, Rift did have an early access period, but typically on PC mmo's and Rift was no exception, most users had pre order access, as more folks are turning to Digital Download's on PC.

I suspect a lot of the "let me in" angst and hopes and theories that servers might be open earlier than expected are coming from console gamers not used to PC mmo releases.

It's more from PC players who are use to headstarts and early access.....consoles don't have these.

i just thought id pop down my local game retail store for a look at what was on sale and kablam!.they have defiance for sale in store right now...they said they have permission to sell because asda started selling copies of the game 2 days ago by mistake.i bought it rushed home installed(while installing copied and pasted all 120 codes into arkfall thingy mabob).install complet press A to play...(presses A)...
Defiance servers not open untill tomorrow 8am...mega mega boo.

Game/Gamestation UK nation wide all have the game on shelves for sale...right now.!..Asda of Walmart UK have been selling it for the past 2 days and have allready been fined 4000 pounds for doing so.
they got fined.not me.not anyone else that recieved the game early or who was lucky enough to walk into a store and buy it today.
i normally pre order my games and get them 1-3 days after release so call it what you like.i call it sods law,luck,karma.

Might want to brush up on your knowledge of international imbargo's before making statements like that, for an Ambassador, (As I am too) you don't paint yourself in a very good light with regards to your knowledge on this issue.
