just heard the news about PS4 multiplayer..
so yesterday i heard about the pay to play thing for PS4's multiplayer, this is disappointing to say the least. after all this time Sony is becoming Microsoft.. needless to say i'll be staying with PS3 until the servers are shut down. after that online gaming is dead to me.
    how's everyone else feel?

servers cost money, welcome to the club...
I just think it's funny how after all the "HAHA xbots have to pay for onlinez!"
this happens and makes every PS fanboy sit down and evaluate the life they've been living.

Sony wants to improve their online service. That kind of stuff takes money.

it also takes away from what drew people to them in the first place, the free online is what made people pay nearly twice what the 360 was just to be able to play online.

I thought that was because it had a blu ray player?

I'm ok paying $60 a year and not having my multiplayer games overrun with hackers.

since i own both and play both. i can tell you shelling out 60 dollars a year (like 5 bucks a month or 16 cents a day(even less per account for the family plan $2.06 a month or 7 cents a day(those are per account, comes with 4 accounts)) for decided more secure servers with less disconnects is worth it. the ps3 dashboard is far superior to xbox and graphics are slightly better download speeds are slightly better, however the frequent disconnects and having to shut down and restart the ps3 to re establish a connection. Servers in games seem to go down a lot more than on xbox as well. I also pay for the playataion plus, if they made you buy that to go online that would be a hell of a deal, free online gaming new free games every month, free to play games, give better servers and a better online service and that would draw way more customers.

To be honest with what the showed off at E3 this year during the press release I expected them to say there will be madatory ps+ subscriptions to play online. Honestly, and hate me if you want, xbox online multi is more stable then the ps3 is at anytime of the day. I perfer playing on there online than my ps3. Sure i own defiance on ps3 mostly cuz my xbox is at its limit on memory and im to cheap to buy a bigger hardrive, and i do enjoy the slightly better graphics on my ps3 lol but i do hate how my wifi on the ps3 cuts out and signs me out and forces me to reboot to sign back in. Never has happened on my xbox so yeah. A little extra money to play online and better online stability? Ill gladly pay a small fee a year to do so.

Not surprised, was actually hoping for that to happen. Getting a constant flow of money can help then increase server stability and provide a better online experience all together.

I'm not sure about the xbone, but the ps4 has always been on my list. The possibility of a more advanced user friendly multiplay is just icing on the cake. Two thumbs up

The ps4 is less expensive than the xbox one

I have always been a fan of Xbox live just not Xbox exclusives. It will be nice to have an online operating system that can add to the competition between consoles and give PS players the features they have wanted plus some new ones.

People need to relax a little. Anyone that has PS+ realizes that it is the most beneficial to a gamer, with access to early beta's, at least 12 free games a month, and online storage for game saves. Try out the service before you count it out completely.

PS+ is worth buying as it gives you a lot for your money and on the PS4 you will still be able to play F2P games like planet side 2 without a PS+ sub.

the only comedy left in the console wars..... "you mean i have to pay for using up bandwidth and having a paid employee available for tech support when something goes wrong? screw you i'll just quit gaming all together!"

always a good way to start your day.

If it makes things better, I have no problem paying for it. I quit smoking recently and I'm sure that saves me more than enough money to cover the cost of PS4 online. And probably enough to get Playstation Plus, now that I think of it.

Still better than having a camera and mic on in my living room 24/7.

What is the big deal it will still be cheaper then the xbox 180 will it not?
I agree servers do cost money and i think they want to improve the services they offer
So at the end it may benefit us even more

with them doing this the community will fall, you'll get people who will judge your every move, if you say one wrong thing you're avoided, or in x-box's terms you get a bad review, those same people will start spreading the word to they''re randomly added friends who in turn will tell they're over 50+ fiends and eventually your public enemy number one for just a simple i don't like one thing you don't. it happened on 360 it will happen on PS4..

I am pretty much avoided by most of xbox live. :') it is simple as you beat them at a game you get avoided for quit early or cheating.

I have yet to see a MP game not be infested with hackers. I know nearly all the FPS and TPS or any game that has a competitive part there is damn near always a hacker, and no amount of reporting, recording of videos showing you these parasites using third party software to get an edge over other players, will ever get them banned.

It was, I admit it. As for the PS4 it doesn't bother me at all that are going to charge. Xbox at first was going to charge for playing pre owned games so.

You got me thinking how is Sony PS3 older games? Like with the 360 seems like any game that is old and not new there a ton of hackers on them with mod weapons and a hole bunch of other crap on them as well so how are PS3 old games are they full of mod weapons and hackers?

That's funny because my PS3 has never done that to me, ****ing great connection. Only game I have ever had connection issues with is due to the game itself, and that is Defiance.

I have never had a problem with my PS3 personally I have had a lot more problems with my Xbox 360. Any person who says that Xbox live is a stable service has clearly not been using it very long.

Online gaming is dead to you? Okay cheapskate, have fun paying your $60 a month for new singleplayer games every month while the rest of us are paying $5 a month for countless hours of multiplayer AWESOMENESS!

the monthly/yearly charge is why i went to xbox. everyone i talk to seems to think its pay to play, IMO your paying for the protection, not paying to play. look at how many times the PSN has been hacked, players info stolen or sold, and compare that to xbox's history.. change your outlook on it, and it might become reasonable to stick with what ya like. plus another member on here made a clearly good point, maintaining servers are not free.
