I think if someone can do a clever pun in their names (no "Mister Poopypants is not a clever pun), it can be funny, and that person might be fun to play with. For instance, on Ultima Online X (yes, I played that...I admit it), there was a bard named "Minstrel Flow." Sorry, that may be a little too crude for some, but I did actually laugh at that one. Haha. I kinda like the name I had in the beta. It had a touch of silliness to it, but I'm not one who thinks a character (yes, "character") HAS to have a serious, anime, fantasy, sci-fi, whatever name. Besides, there are some silly anime shows out there (and not all of them are kid shows). Anyway, I played on MUDs in the 80s and 90s, and a little in the 2000s, and I never heard them called "toons." However on DCUO, "Mister Poopypants" was just about over the top for me. Not to mention, I was having trouble coming up with any great names anyway, and it was also something of a salute to Leslie Nielsen. It came from a scene in "Naked Gun 2 1/2." So, yeah. There you have it. Oh, and my signature is a quote from a t-shirt. I thought it was funny since women seem fond of saying men are infantile, and they need to grow up, and all that stuff. I've never been told that though. :p Anyway, I love MMOs, I've never called any of my characters "toons," and I think there is room for some humor/silliness. I just don't like crudeness. That most definitely will get people targeted, like you said. Hmm...my post didn't come off as sounding offended, did it? I hope not. It's just opinion.
