To Those of Us Who Paid Full Price
For those of us who had purchased the game at release, we paid 60 dollars for a game that is now 10, and also with the Deluxe Edition only being 30. I have sunk my initial 60 dollar investment and a 40 dollar investment on DLC, as have my others, the least you could do is give us the Deluxe Edition to those who purchased the base game at release. This would stand to reason, the way I received ingame currency for RIFT for the concurrent months I subscribed to your game and purchased items. It is nice to feel appreciated once in a while...Everything on the Defiance end seems like a spit in the face, just saying.

I'm gonna' mix things up for once and ask you personally one ??? before I let loose the hounds of snark.

How many hours have you gotten out of Defiance as of this post? I don't need your life's history as a gamer and what end lvl boss you put down as a completion of merit for a job resume... just a number will suffice.

I agree, ony thing to do is really just stop playing. When the game world is totally empty Trion will get the message.

Not to brag or troll or anything but this thread is funny because I've been wanting this game but refuse to pay 60 for it so when I saw it for 9.98 at Wal-Mart today I bought it! :)

So... those of us who bought the deluxe edition at launch get free hellbug statues?
And what about those of us who bought the collector's and ultimate editions?

Meh... I just want my Rose colored glasses without having to spend a bloody 5 dollars for a recolor of an item skin I already own. <- Even the smiley mocks me.

That and a hellbug plushie... those things are just too damn cute for their own good.

I was playing Black Ops II. Went out and bought this about a month after it came out. This is still 100 times better. At times I do get board and don't play Defiance for a day or two. But It is so much better that what I was playing.

When you pay 10 for a movie ticket and said moving goes to the dollar theater 3 months later, do you ask for 9 bucks back from the first theater or a tub of popcorn or drink for free because that happened?

You paid for your vanity to play it sooner than those who waited until its cheaper.

I only bought the orginial game for $60. After about 2 weeks I felt like I had accomplished everything except the levle grind. This game was market as an MMo which in my eyes says it will keep me busy for a few months. So I don't feel like I got my moneys worth.

Now saying all that I don't expect to get anything from Trion. The people who really got screwed are the ones who bought the Deluxe edition. If you buy it now you basically get the DLC pack cheaper than when it first was released. Those people need some type of refund or perk because they haven't even recieved the content yet.

Considering for most MMOs you'd have to pay for those subsequent months...

AFAIK the price of the DLC pack hasn't changed. Also it is not included in the deluxe edition (or collector's if I remember correctly), just the ultimate edition.

Though you do remind me that I never did get my Badlands Drifter title, and the Steam store page still shows it as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition, so I'm going to have to pester somebody in the support team one of these days...

Why should you get for free what other people paid for?

What do you propose to give the people that paid more for their deluxe, collector's and ultimate editions than you did for the basic game? I see you failed to mention any of that in your little entitlement rant. Oh, right... Those don't matter, because you wouldn't get anything out of it.

    Gotta love the welfare mindset.

When I first got the game it was $60 and I believe $39.99 to upgrade to the deluxe edition that included the DLC (this may be wrong all postings of it have been removed). Now I can just upgrade to Deluxe edition for $19.99.

As a Deluxe Edition owner who preordered, I can safely tell you that never has the DLC been a part of the Deluxe Edition.

It includes an Outfit + Headgear (which was FUBAR'D for a very long time), some 30-day boosts, +5 inventory space, a lockbox, and a few starter gear pieces. And supposedly a title, which as I said I never did get... and was another point of contention back during launch with people saying yes it had it, no it didn't, blah blah blah...

I just consider it a very expensive lesson to never buy anything from Trion again, and to actively try to convince others of the same.

Heck, I have no intentions of buying anything any Trion employee has worked on again. The team, as a whole, has shown incompetence on an epic scale, and that kind of incompetence will show in anything they work on.

I always envy people who've never had the misfortune of spending money on something that has been branded by EA. :(

Incorrect on the pricing point of the dlc seasons pass. You can purchase the DLC seasons pass through steam for 30 bucks as opposed to the trion website's 50.

    Did you preorder through Steam?

I was under the impression that they finally fixed the tiered preorder reward so that anyone who preordered (or maybe everyone, if they were unable to fix it for just preorders) got the discount applied, instead of that half-assed attempt that was a discount for approximately 1 day for the season pass as part of tiered preorder rewards.

Edit: To clarify, I meant that one of the tiered preorder rewards through Steam that was unlocked based on the number of people who preordered Defiance on Steam included a 25% off the price of the Season Pass (which is $40 on Trion's website btw, not $50).

If I remember right, that was included in the final tier of the reward, which was only unlocked for a few days prior to the official launch, and, once the game launched, the price of the Season Pass went back up to $40, much to the outrage of many people who had expected a tiered preorder reward to not be a temporary flash sale.

The season pass on Trions website is £24.99 and on Steam it's £19.99

I didn't pre order but that's what Steam is charging.

Or I could buy the Ultimate Edition for £21 on Amazon.

*shrug* Maybe they reduced it in price for everyone then, but it still seems unusual to me that they would lower the price on Steam and not on their own website >unless< it had to do with the preorder rewards.

Heh, yeah. I've gotten everything else from it. During launch there were several issues with the CLAIM ITEMS system, including the title I'm referring to, many people not getting their pre-order bonus challengers for long periods of time, and the infamous "Oops we gave the completely wrong color of the armor skin that was advertised for the Deluxe/Collector's/Ultimate editions".

    Good times.

    Yah. . .
I paid full price. I played for a bit, then BAM game breaking bugs, half finished ********. I payed 60 dollars for a half *** game that is now 10 dollars. . . and they want me to pay for ****ing DLC? If this isnt a joke, then choke Trion. Your company is garbage. Just choke and go away. Im actually updating to see if they have made it ANY better.

Elemental has much better service, albeit ****tier games. I bought Elemental for like 50-60. It was a horrible flop. They gave me 2 free games for my trouble.

    Nope.

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/224610/

You dont have to have preordered to see/get that price. That's the standard price for the seasons pass now.

As for being unusual, nope. Preorder would be a good example. The steam version had all those unlocks and other goodies.

But if you want a trade off to feel currently clear on, the standard edition on Trion's website atm has more goodies than the steam standard at the moment.

I preordered and paid $60 for 3 reasons

    1. To be in at the beginning, with all the bugs and before all the nerfs
    2. To get the pre order items, which I assumed, and still do assume, that only preorders will have (at least in that particular color).
    3. Because I wanted to play along with the TV show.

So far I think I got what I paid for. That doesn't mean I think Defiance is a good game or that I've been totally happy. But I have played for 700 hours, so I guess I got my money's worth.

I'd pay £21 for the bag again, i've used it all over europe and its great.

Is this your first MMO? This is par for the course. Every MMO launches with issues, and every MMO drops in price over time. At least there are no monthly sub fees.

I have gotten over 200 hours on this game. Which is more than I have gotten with others like the Call of Duty series, etc. Even Boarder Lands. It was worth the $60. You treat this like you pay a subscription, which you dont. You have more than enough to do in this game to warrant the $60 you spent.

On a different note, how would you like it if you were over worked and underpaid then people complained about a service that has no real re-occuring cost and pays for itself when compared to other games in its genre like Call of Duty, etc saying that they were ripped off when they played over 40 hours in it which even 20-30 hours would pay for this game?

Its like someone buying a huge cake, then after eating it all, wanting a refund because it wasnt big enough.

Hi you must be new to online gaming.

It's been this way for about 25 years now.

    You'll get over it.

Hi, I'm here to agree with the OP since the Internet appears to be full of people who disagree with such statements.

That, and I really do agree with it too. There's a reason why this game has dropped its price by more than 50% within 4 months of release.

Within a week (or was it a month?) of me buying the game I can see of how much a Cash Shop focused this game was, so I kindly asked for a refund on the Bits I bought but hadn't spent, along with the game itself. To Trion's credit, they refunded me the cost of the Bits and were willing to refund me the game too, but since I bought the game from Steam they couldn't refund me that.

Yea, go figure huh? Steam, the king of PC Gaming, wouldn't give me the refund but Trion would (of).

So please people, just because you like something doesn't mean you should be blinded by it and not call it out on things. If anything, because you like something so much should be all the more reason to criticize and bash it.

Yeah, imagine a company that doesn't make games and only SELLS them refusing to give you a refund while a company that makes that game and sells them can give you a refund.

    Very strange.

You may want to rethink that buddy.

Steam is run by Valve ...... the makers of the Portal and Half Life games as well as others.

Steam is just the distribution side of things but the company behind it does indeed make games.
