Currently there is 2 races at launch which only add cosmetic differences. I read on the Season Pass that has 5 DLC that one of the DLC will include a new alien race. The questions is will this race play as something different from a Ark Hunter so that it adds a reason to start a new character?
A lot of people are curious for more details regarding the additional race. Trion should be a little more forthcoming with information, IMHO.
This seems to be a game where alts or rerolls would be fairly meaningless, leading people to wonder the point of introducing a new race later in the game. If I could roll a 3rd race from launch, I would be more willing to drop currency on the DLC package. If I have to wait, I don't see much point in starting over in a game where there is no benefit beyond cosmetics.
it probably would be the race plus expansion new starting area and story for new race most likely thought
i think everyone basically starts in the same area seing as human and irathient starts in the same area lol
I agree, if it is only going to be cosmetic what is the point of introducing another race in a DLC. Another MMO I play 'The Secret World' has 3 different factions, but there is no true difference between the faction and therefore no point in creating an ALT. I hope Defiance doesn't go the same route.Quote:

I think the aren't giving out info regarding the new race/s, is due to spoilers. I think Sledge said that yesterday on the live stream.
I don't know... TSW has a pretty solid faction based story line I was curious enough to roll an alt to check that out, but from a completely gameplay view I agree. I think that's a weakness of the classless style of game in general. The only difference in Defiance as far as I know would be what you look like in the cutscenes.Quote:

However, some people were saying that in pvp they were human no matter what their starting race was? I didn't notice since I put the full face mask helmet on before I even started pvping. If that's the case, and the character is only alien in the pve/openworld content that'd free Trion to use pretty much any race, no matter the size/dimensions, so long as they didn't mind remapping/texturing the outfits for it.

If the current two races have absolutely no differences between them...why would the third? or fourth? And since there are no classes in the game, there's really no reason to start over again with another race.
I'm a smidge upset that there are no race differences. What's the point of multiple races that play the same
I bought the Gamestop Ultimate Edition and it came with the season pass. I do not think other then the skull cap I got any of the season pass downloads, is this because none of the DLC is out yet like the new playable Alien Race, Areas and ect. Please help.
