[Suggestion]: Grace Period for Defiance with explanation.
It is known and announced that Defiance CE/ UE got delayed at some retailers as well as some people who ordered the game will not be able to get their copy on time due to some last minute delays from their retailers and also shipping duration, etc. There is no point playing the blame game aka retailers blame Trion and Trion blame retailers. Nothing good will come out of this. What I can suggest is a grace period, for maybe a week at max.

    Why grace period?

    Grace period explained:

Customers who pre-ordered the game regardless of which retailers they ordered from, will be able to play the game on release date. Most customers will definitely appreciate this.. a lot. This will make you, as a company, look good. Customers who feel appreciated by a company will definitely support and come back for more. You may even get more sales with good publicity. Make your customers feel appreciated and in return we will make you feel appreciated too!

Anyway, I know I definitely won't be able to get my Defiance on release date since I pre-ordered the Defiance Ultimate Collector's edition from Gamestop and they are still processing the order. It's not like it will be the end of the world if I don't get to play on release date but it will be a good thought for the masses regarding the grace period.

Anyway, this is just a suggestion. It's entirely up to Trion to decide if they wish to have a grace period or not.

Really excited about this game! See you guys in game as soon as I receive my game! :)

Don't think it would really be fair to push the game back cause gamestop screwed up. (As always) I mean making every one wait so a hundred or so others can make up a few hours of play isn't really right. I cancelled my gamestop order to avoid the stall and no people are pushing to make it mandatory. Just stinks to me just saying.

Nothing about pushing back the release date was mentioned.. Grace period does not mean pushing back release date.. I think you misunderstood. :\

OP was not asking for game to be pushed back but for people who pre-ordered to be allowed access whilst they wait for physical copies to arrive which is beyond Trions control. It's a reasonable idea but not one which is happening at the moment.

That said, there is really no need to create another thread when there is already a looong and apparently still healthy thread on the subject...

And how would this work for XBox Players? They need the physical disc to launch the game. How would they benefit from your grace period? How would it be fair to them in PC gamers got a grace period and they didn't?

So you're saying that the majority of people who DID get their pre-order on time, should wait another week to play just cause a minority of people didn't get it? That'll do more harm then good.

How did they get into the Xbox beta in the first place? Did Trion send them a disc?

No, she is saying that those who have a pre-order code would be able to play until their game arrived. Other companies have done this in the past, when there have been mix-ups in shipping like this. The people who have their game on time would still be able to play at the already declared launch.
