I usually have voicechat going with people I run with/guildies so its pretty easy to tell who is a he and who is a she...but why does it matter really? Anyone who assumes the gender is the same as the players character needs their head examined :P While i have been know to use a Female gender/class i dont often take any "Gifts" and also make it known im a guy so that i get many annoying people.
I can see why someone would want to con people out of items but its your own fault for giving great items away to someone you dont even know just because they are acting like or really are of the opposite gender

Well sure we'd all like to believe those numbers as they make us feel better about ourselves and the gaming community as a whole, but those types of studies are never accurate. The numbers are always skewed in some way or another.
My only problem with these studies is that they are always going to be skewed by the reality that female 'gamers' are not often organic. By that I mean they are either coaxed (not forced, do not misconstrue my word usage), by some exterior force. They are influenced by a lover or a family member - often male. It could also come about because online games are (as previously mentioned) a great social networking environment, and of course social networking is this generation's THING - they go hand in hand. If you are low self esteemed, or simply can't get out much, you can get your social relations online whilst also entertaining yourself.Quote:

I'm a guy and I play female characters... have for years now. Also this is my first MMO (I hate subscription fees so I never bothered with any until now) but I am not the type to try and get stuff from other players. I just like seeing the female form and since there is no difference between playing a male or female character in most games - why not look at something pleasing to the eye?
