Like I said before don't be like Manti Te'o, that poor bastard talked with his "Girl Friend" for years. Yes sometimes just talking to people will let you know. Easiest thing to do is just enjoy the game and the people in it. Don't go looking to make a GF or finding people to hang out with IRL. Treat everyone as online acquaintances to enjoy the same game as you whether male or female or little kids or senior citizens.

Of the characters I play online, only 2 are female and named Elondra and Clorisa. Both have appeared in many MMOs. I always tell everyone via text chat that I am male playing a female toon...before I'll talk in voice chat. About 50% leave quickly while the rest don't care. 100% of the real online females (yes, they DO exist) have never cared... they are always cool with it.

Yeah Te'o got a raw deal but it didn't help slipping on his 40. His pro day was good (alright) though. I personally hate Tebow and how everyone started to **** him that first year ever though at same time they were saying he was a terrible QB

-They are "Creepers"

Whenever a game has an option to make a female character I ALWAYS create one.

First of all I want to support those female gamers out there and show developers we want them in other games... Second I much rather have a hot chick playout through cutscenes than a guy...

Some of you guys must be real legit nerds to even make remarks like "whoever is a guy and creates a female character is a creeper"... for real dude this isn't elementary school anymore grow up

I often play games with a female avatar not to get free stuff as I hate beggers in mmo's. Its often to with RP of a character or they just look better with more customisation options with clothes and hair. You can make them look very unique more so than most male characters. Never once have I posed as a female in RL to any player, if asked OOC then I tell them truth. TS can also solve this problem as well :)

But if players wish to give me free stuff as I play the game then I will accept all offers, I just never beg or ask for them to do so.

If there was ever a game where the male characters looked better than the females, then I'd pick a male.

But so far, I've never found a game with better looking men than women. The only way it would even be possible is if they made the women have no boobs anyway. And gave em beards. Even then they still might look better... lol

Anyway, I don't act like I'm a female and don't expect any free gifts. They can go easy on me in PVP if they like, but it won't make much of a difference... If they're that soft, chances are I'll already be putting bullets through their brains.

I won't lie I'm guilty of using it to get free stuff... I was young, can you blame meh :p. Never begged but I just befriended people and they gave me free stuff lol, alot of love hungry people on the web. If they started asking questions than I just answered honestly. It was pretty interesting to see the reactions and anger back in my runescape days.

that's a bit of a narrow view, in fairness if your going to invest 100+hours into an mmo... would you prefer watching your beefy male counterpart in the 3rd person view shooting things... or a nice lithe female character? I know which one is more appealing to the eye but that's just my personal view. I think everyone also knows that Female Commander Shepard in ME3 was more kickass than the male version.

I play a female character in lots of games, but everyone knows I'm a guy as I don't try to hide or make a false back history etc. As soon as I see someone try to chat me up though I just turn round and say "I'm a guy and I'm married with kids" that tends to make them back off and apologise.

As Morgan Spurlock said "best fake documentary I've ever seen."

I think there's lots of reasons why guys play female characters: controlling a woman, better to constantly look at a woman's *** than a guys, safety of gender swapping role playing without stigma, roleplaying and most likely the main reason that gender in an mmo no longer has any bearing on the gender of the player.

If somebody goes out of their way to tell me they're a woman and I don't hear their voice on TS/Vent I usually just consider them an oddball who's out for something.
