Melee Bonuses on Sniper Rifles? Seriously?

    Melee Bonuses on Sniper Rifles? Seriously?
    I have a couple of snipers that have melee bonuses, but the other bonuses made up for it. But today took the cake. I got a nice semi auto (which is doomed anyway because of the low sniper ammo pool) that had 2 decent rolls, a x1.15 melee roll, and an unlocked mastery roll. So I did whatever I could to try to get a good mastery roll, and what do I get? Another x1.15 melee roll. I now have a semi-automatic club :rolleyes:

    My point is, why do we have completely useless rolls on certain weapon types? I know it makes the other weapons with great rolls stand out, but I can think of non-great rolls that are not as useless.

    Other examples of useless rolls on weapon types: Melee on Rocket Launchers, 3% ammo regen on revive player on snipers and all shotguns (heck, just in general), or fire rate bonuses on sawed offs! Granted, sawed offs USED to have a fire rate when you could put extended mags on them back in April, but now you can't. Bad part is, the thing even lists a fire rate in the stats! It does not have a fire rate, it has been tested. It's a fire then reload weapon. 2 friends each took a short barrel (one of the ones that does 2 consecutive shots unlike the nano fragger), one was normal (no fire rate bonuses) and one had 2 fire rate bonuses. They shot them at the exact same time. Was there any difference between the bang bang? NO!

    Oh you would have loved it. This one guy was at an arkfall trying to sell a +melee damage on selfrevive +crit mult hip fire and +mag bolt action.

    The kick of it all.....he wanted 300k just because it was a legendary.....

    Yeah thats one thing I hope they fix....certain weapons need to have there bonus table reworked and a few pointless ones removed. But then again on the list of thing's that need to be done. This is way down the list.

    Yeah fire rate is stupid but you couldnt pry the triple reload courier from my cold dead hands

    I've seen it happen all too many times, in many games. A sniper never coming out of zoom, only to have a guy in their face meleeing them.

    Recently I finally got a legendary that wasn't a shotgun or a pistol (I don't really enjoy those). It was a Spanner-Protector with melee and fire rate bonus plus Run-n-Gun synergy. Well, at least it has 10% EGO recharge on full reload!

    Sigh. :D

    Sniper rifle melee actually makes sense tho...if someone gets in close, you need all the help you can get...

    Lets use an ACTUAL useless roll

    -Fire rate on a sawed off (it shoots all at once...useless)
    -x1.05 Mag on a fragger/shotgun (does nothing, even when combined with ax1.20 mag mod)
    -ANY self revive roll (self revive roll = you just lost a gun)


    Cant think of anymore....but yes, I hate the useless rolls.......

    This is why I use a back-up weapon that is good for mid/short range combat. Tach or a Pump

    And this is why each loadout has two weapons. So if someone is on you, you don't try to melee with your sniper. You pull out a sawed-off and blast them in the face.

    I have NEVER needed melee with a sniper.

    im not much of a sniper but when i use my bolt action i like to have the melee bonus for when one dude gets to close just melee him and go back to shooting without changing weapon.
