From my understanding they aren't "classes" it's more as what weapon you start with and visual outfit.
Pretty much what Laughter said. Outfit Visuals + Starting Weapons. It may affect the story line as you are given a background too, not sure though.
As of right now, there doesn't seem to be any difference between the "classes" besides the visual outfit. Which of course has 0 tangible effect on the gameplay.
I expect that this will change as the game is refined because then there is absolutely no reason to have these 4 types. Might as well make the outfit part of character creation and get rid of the hunter/soldier/mechanist/outlaw definitions. At the very least, each type should have weapon type proficiencies or special skills. Something that effects actual gameplay.
And i think thats all is under protection of the NDA! :D
looks. everyone wants looks.
Could be in the future the classes will have different abilities or different weapons available to them. It doesn't make sense that they'd make a class called the machinist that just looks different from the hunter/survivor. I'm thinking it will be weapons and abilities, maybe armor as well. It would be more understandable if it was just armor and abilities as opposed to weapons.
this is a thread for beta forums and as Ninajpony said itīs totally under NDA !
Perhaps they'll do customizations later. Since this is pretty much the opening of closed beta I expect that they'll get things hammered out by the time the TV shows airs. However, since the show is on SyFy I don't expect too many seasons will happen as SyFy channel has a bad habit of dropping new shows very quickly. I rather preferred them when they were Sci-Fi channel when they actually aired sci-fi TV shows. And left the wrestling and all that other garbage to the other stations.
It was a great show. And they always had good movies. Unfortunately, they decided that the ratings needed to be higher for the channel so some business management person decided to add regular television and start taking out the sci-fi part of it. Which is why they now have a habit of dropping any sci-fi show that comes out within a season or two. It's pretty much the same stuff they'd have on Spike or TBS or some other channels.
