    You're thinking of Thinkpads not Lenovos in general by the way. My Y480 Ideapad is great but it's a fragile piece of consumer trash. Pretty though.

    apple users promote the product on the basis that you don't have to be tech savvy to use them.

    and yet here you are saying that you should do something that i don't even have to do on my homebuilt pc or my asus netbook to get them to do what you want?

    thing is macbooks are no more rugged than a cheap dell laptop.

    also all lenovo products come with a 3 year warranty which boasts itself as being among the most comprehensive in teh segment.

    macbooks come with a 1 year warranty.

    And by the way, this might be her, and her only but a friend of mine had this problem 2 years ago:
    She got a mac from her mother as a birthday present. It works fine for about 2 weeks, then the HDD goes unstable and it stops working. As she has only had it for two weeks, she sends it in for service, knowing 2 weeks is within the 2 year warranty. After 2 months, she gets a mail, stating it was her fault. As they could not find a reason why the HDD would stop working. She had 2 choices:
    1. Pay about 250 USD (1300,- NOK) to get it back, nothing done with it.
    2. Pay 700 USD to change the HDD (3500,- NOK)

    She did not have the money for the second choice at the time, let it be and forgot it. (The Mac just sitting at the store, doing nothing) She got a reply a month after I met her (we met during boot camp in the military) I had a look at it, send a mail stating it could not be her fault and so on. Because there were no marks, what so ever on it. She got it back a few weeks later, (a week before bootcamp ended) with a broken screen. After 2 months or so of complaining she sent it back and got a new screen. Total it took a year from she got it, to she could use it for more then 2 weeks. As I said, this could only be her, be unlucky. But shows that Apple does not have the best warranty.

    For those who care;
    Macbook worth about 1200 USD at the time (Keep in mind, Norway is expensive!)

    Whoa, that's a horror story if I ever heard one. Personally all the laptops I've trashed (and I've trashed a few. Dropped one down a flight of stairs) Apple has been the most decent. Their CS/Warranty has taken a nose dive, it's far and beyond what it used to be. I agree but nothing that horrible. Seriously, that's something I would take to my attorney to sue over because that's a load of ****. Lenovo has been far the worst and I love their stuff to death. (They wanted to charge me a non-refundable 80 dollars to look at my laptop) because the logic board had failed. I replaced it for 50 dollars myself.

    Lenovo does have the garanty for one reason; Getting businesses to buy it.

    In Norway, Mac have 2 year warranty (bound by the law)

    You literally have no idea what you're talking about.

    As someone who's dealt with Lenovo's CS/Warranty, they really do have the most asisine warranty policies. They wanted 80 dollars to look at my laptop which they will not refund and I had a comprehensive warranty package. Literally their best warranty package. I'll root for Lenovo all day long but if I ever break this Y480, I'll just buy another, their warranty isn't going to cover jack.

    This MbA still works. It was run over by a car. The only Lenovos that can withstand that kind of punishment were the old IBM series which are great by the way.

    You truly enjoy discrediting people, don't you? How often do we run over a Lenovo with a car and how often can a MAC survive?
