BUT, how will Trion **** this one it up?

Yeah. Not paying 10 bucks for that.
The joke is even becoming a joke. They ain't gonna make it to all the DLC's with spasms like this.
They said there would be different interiors-that they were sort of random and this was just one of them.
Also, for others that worry about the stims and everything else-they said these were initial numbers (things like 100% HP) and could be tweaked.
And for grenades, how that's implemented may change. It appears you don't lose your grenade but likely run out of times to use it until you find more grenade ammo. If you equip an orange pyro and throw them, then you will run out of the amount you have. Fine more ammo, and you have your supply back of orange pyros.
The content shown in this is some stuff people talked about. I know that many of us wanted something that made arkfalls feel more like what we envisioned arkfalls would be-parts of ships falling down. And Nim's place likely is one example of that, but there are many races, so different types could be possible-and not all of them shown on the show.
Yes, and not necessarily the only things added. People wanted more coop events and these will give them in a way that is not "enter coop here".
I assume at this point, no matter what they do with the game or add people will find fault so whatever. If today they announced you'd be sure to win an orange weapon, shield, and grenade at every arkfall, some people would be mad they didn't get the oranges they wanted. I'm not saying some complaining isn't warranted, but if the DLC had new maps, a big story line, MP arenas, and lots more, some would be saying, no matter what, "is that all?"
An $8-$10 DLC is not an expansion pack. And it's not a map pack that other companies charge $15 for.
Well, wasn't Nim's room inside alien tech? That would explain why one of the Ark rooms would use it.
Actually, map packs are starting to be free again. The fourth Killzone will feature ALL new DLC for the game (in order to keep its community together and active) and the production values on that game... Well lets just say one character has more poly's than the entire fricken pay area lol.
Yeah, I meant nothing against what you said-but at a few points during the conversation they said this was just the first one they had to show and that there were others. It's not my favorite either and would be nice to see more but that's all I was pointing to. I know you aren't being needlessly picky.
Well that's one game (a game series I happen to like) and Killzone did have "free" map packs before for some of their retro maps-there were many ways to get them free so paying for them was kind of silly. But they also added things to a lot of their maps such as the exos and jetpacks. There are other companies out there that include retro maps in their paid map packs and that do charge a premium for mostly maps - very easy to make content compared with active instances.
I like the KZ series-thought KZ2's MP was actually better in some ways than 3's but still like 3's. I'd be interested in where it's said they'll have DLC that will be more like expansion packs and not map packs. See, I don't mind paying $15 for expansion packs and even great new map packs with new abilities or vehicles, but it's rather annoying to buy a Season Pass and get a retro map in a new pack that is just a repeat map with no snow.
As to this dlc in this thread-it remains to be seen what the final version will be like. My point is that map packs are easy enough to create, other content is not, including what was shown so far. If it's not enough for you, that's ok. I'm not going to say it's enough for me but it is something I wanted and what others said they wanted. Real ship pieces to make the arkfalls seem more real. The stims and grenade nerf, well-they likely are seeing that people use and like the stims we now have (if used better), and there have been a lot of complaints about grenades-specifically all the one hit kills that some are getting. I'm not saying it matters to me, but there have been complaints-it's part of this DLC announcement because they're indicating they can be refreshed.
The limited grenade isn't a DLC feature, but they're putting it out there to let people know about it and they might change their minds on it, maybe. I doubt it would be something people would want suddenly sprung upon them in patch notes. We have time to assess the meaning of the nerf and to see if it's workable or to be hated.
Nor is it even close to a content-driven DLC that SOE does for $10 for DC Universe Online every 4 months or so, either. Just wanted to point that out. Console-only games are not the only video games with DLCs and not expansions.
Even by DLC standards, their pay portion on the DLC-1 was atrocious. I'm not placing bets on DLC-2 triggering a greater buy impulse.
