If it was a game breaker I would request a refund, It is however something that impacts my game experience in a negative way, as such I got every right to voice my concern about the mather.




You need to understand not everyone plays the game for the same reasons or with the same goals as you, Yes it is a shooter, but even so it will likely draw a rp crowd aswell, while I don't rp myself, my ingame names actually do mather to me.

This exactly. We've been studying the lore for quite a while, and both of us have stories written up for both of our characters. A change of name(s) in this is just a punch in the face. If I pre-order a game, I plan to play it on its release date, not before.

I'll never understand at all how players can take a whole 10 seconds to create a character in a game, without giving any thought to the names they apply to these beings.

Because, availability is never guaranteed. Generally, you make the character and then develop backstory and build on it if you so wish. Planning it all beforehand only set you up for disappointment.

I assume you're from the shooter crowd rather than the MMO crowd then? I'm not too fussed about names personally, but understand that to many it is important. Having said that, I do use the same name(s) for every game that I play, I just use pretty obscure names which are extremely unlikely to be taken before I get to creating characters.

When I buy a physical copy of a game I do so knowing that it might not come in when I want it to and I might not be able to pick it up in time. I know it sucks that people want to play Defiance now but can't. But I promise it's not game breaking or the end of the world.

Are you going to wipe for "OFFICIAL" launch so everyone has the same chance on claiming names and everyone will have working characters (since claiming items is total weird... sometimes a character has more and sometimes less items too claim and still a lot is missing).
At least i realy realy hope and wish you will wipe before it gets official launched! :)

I was personally told by someone from Trion there would be NO wipes.

Well that's a bit of sad news, we were told one thing, then it was changed to another, and just because of that we lose out on names? Really? I do not blame Trion, but I am upset at a lack of communciation.

I may consider requesting a refund. I know Trion doesn't care whether I refund, I know all of you gentlemen do not care about my "whining" for refund, but I CARE about getting $140 back into my wallet. Good day.

Some people are in the game, and I cant even download it, how is this fair?

I dont care too much about the people already in, I would just like to have it pre-loaded so I can play it at launch. Why couldent you get steam to let us pre-load it?

I ordered from Steam. You need to go into your Steam Library and get your CD key. It's there I promise.

very true lol, but it's relevant to the conversation as a whole in the fact that some have access to the game while others are left to the side unable to access the game

For scandinavians, germans, and australians the cd-key is not availible unless you use questionable methods of seeing it.

There seems to be some sort of idiotic region block at steam which causes it, and steam has completly ignored the issue so far.. despite that its been going on for well over a week.

actually it has to do with the EU (login issues are just some additional information that everything is borked for people of the EU) because they need to use a VPN to get their codes from steam....... without VPN they wont get it right now

That's sad. :( I claimed my key with zero issues several days ago. I'm in the US though and don't preorder from Steam ever. So I just figured its that way for everyone. Like, you guys don't have this?

Also is there anyway for you guys to get a refund and order some where else?

If your in game name was so important, you should make it something more original. "This name means so much to me, but a thousand other people always want it to!"

Use some originality, I have several names I use in every MMO I play and I have never once had any of them taken already.

It would only be fair for people who got in earlier to lose their progress..

I feel everyone here about as buying the Ultimate Edition ($150) and cannot start playing until we finish downloading the Launch client , after we receive our order and pull that code out. I thought I wouldn't be in the position I currently am stuck with. My preorder of the UE from GameStop which I paid in full upfront months ago, never arrived and is still lost in transit! Now I can suck it up and hope my order isn't several days late, which it may end up being. I just feel some extra anger because I have been testing on both servers for months, and I also am a clan leader. I'm greatfull that I was chosen early on to begin testing, and had a great time doing it. Right now my biggest concern is not being able to claim my character name I have always used. The concern may sound small, but for me it really is quite important. Well, just thought I'd include myself on this thread and let the other players that need to wait until tomorrow, know that there is some like myself that don't even know when they will see their order! =P

Some people have used their game names as online personas for longer than many gamers have been alive. To some, it's akin to identity theft. However, Defiance does have a good naming platform that using an alteration to the name while making a ticket to the GMs to see about getting your original name (sometimes it can be reversed, if you can prove that you are the rightful owner of the name) reinstated to you, and giving the other person a chance to rename their character.

However, in most cases, people are using names that are quirky and fun, and also, popular. In which case is pretty much a race to get it first.

So when is the official, true launch of the game? 12:01 am ET has come and passed, and the PC NA server has yet to be wiped, so that "launch time" has been eliminated as a possibility. The patcher lists 8 am as a possible launch time, but it does not list the corresponding timezone. I have previously heard 10 am PT, and recently I've heard about the "Defiance Launch Day Streamapalooza," which begins at 2 pm PT. Does anyone actually know this officially? When I mean officially, I mean literally what exact time launch begins, not hours before.

This has seriously jaded me to question every single game-related scheduled event from this point forward. I'm still wishing this is the worst April Fool's prank ever.

My next guess is that the wipe will occur on or before 1 pm ET.

Early launches are common and good to spread out the server load. I was trying to login periodically for that reason and it paid off - once again, as it has in other MMOs. Wiping the characters would be unheard of in this situation and cause a lot of anger. Not being able to login? Annoying. Having your charater deleted? Much more annoying.

I'm sitting here at work, about to fall asleep. Played the game for a few hours today, i can tell you there really isnt alot of people who got in..i might have saw 100 in the 8 hours i played, so rest assured there is a good chance your gamer names are safe. Working customer service i am not surprised at all by the amount of worthless complaining going on and calls for refunds!!! Act like adults, so some people got to test server load before you, so what. I'm sure you really wanted to see a main line quest bug out for half the people so you cant progress the story line quests. That's about all you missed. So take a midol and grow up.

You do know the PS3 servers are seperate from the PC and no one on PS3 got on early, your gamer tags/names have yet to be claimed...so your comments/complaints are invalid..good day sir

Ok, but can I download client on PC before servers are open, because for now i gets "Login successfull but this account is not entlitled to play DEFIANCE..."??? I entered my preorder code yesterday.
