Common sense says: "Learn from other companies mistakes in the past, offer a grace period so you dont have be flamed for not letting everyone have the same opportunity to log in." Thats what common sense says. But like I said in another post. It really doesn't matter, I could have logged in today and waited in hour long ques or hit a brick wall with bugged story missions, maybe even of crashed a couple of times and have to wait again in a queue.
What most people are angry about are gaming TAGs and personally rightfully so. People were able to get in and reserve what was needed to get their names and those that didnt got shafted it is what it is. Its Principle, dont get why people have such a hard time understanding that. I paid 100.00 for a game that I was supposed to be able to play at 9PM PST. Many people will not get their games tomorrow and not be able to play. Of course people will be upset.
The people not getting their games should take that up with the companys they pre-ordered with. Trion made the game, not the disks, they did not fill orders for amazon, gamestop, etc. i doubt they are even able to touch the servers sending out the digital copy of the game. Ok that last one was a long shot, but anything is possible. On the name thing, yeah i can understand people being mad. i have used the same few names in every game i play. Neither of which are rare, so the chances of you getting that common name are slim to none, if you have a rare name you dreamt up one day while playing with your carebears, i doubt highly someone has taken it. Everyone just needs to calm down and act like adults.
I have a question about your post,
Trion sets the release date at April 2nd.
Trion informs the retailers that they cannot under any circumstances release the product before the hard release date.
Trion decides their will be no grace period for those buying from retailers.
Trion then launches their servers before the hard release date
Trion then allows digital download customers to access the servers.
Retailers still can't under any circumstances release the product before the hard release date.
people who bought from retailers scream they got screwed.
But somehow this is the retailers fault.... how exactly are the retailers supposed to fix this? the only thing they could do is give out the product before the release date, but TRION won't let them.
How do you propose screaming at the retailers will fix this problem?
Seems to me that Trion made this problem.
Delivery problems are normally dodged by grace periods its been asked but never answered .
Why is there no grace period at all ?
Day 1 server load? Simply doesnt care? The gods are punishing you for wanted a physical copy? Who knows, not every game does it, a few have and now everyone has grown to expect it. To be honest i'd rather not have it, 4+ hour queue times during SWTOR early access turned me off to the whole early access crap, by the time you actually get in and get going you dont get much of a headstart and the box is sitting on your door step
Thank you, I too got lucky enough to get in after work yesterday. Was completely caught off guard when the character creation screen loaded, I darn near soaked myself in excitement. Played for nearly 9 hours before going to bed. I'm sorry to hear that most people are still waiting but that's life, get used to it.
Seems that ordering from a separate retailer is not always the best route.
Hey folks,
Just dropping in a reminder to ensure your posts are on topic, civil and constructive.
Thanks!
Got in! game is fun, just like alpha but better! Why? Because its the real game!!!!!
Any ideas about what time this is going to be done ?
Well launch may not have gone as everyone had hoped, but if it keeps some whiny self entitled babies from playing the game, then good riddance.
For those playing on Steam having this problem like I did:
I opened the Defiance launcher, and clicked the 'Account' button at the bottom to open the Account Management web page
https://defiance.trionworlds.com/acc...ut.action?dd=1
I then clicked on the 'Apply Code'
I then opened my Steam games library and launched Defiance from there. The first screen to come up was the little Steam screen containing CD-Keys.
I copied each of them and pasted them in the 'Apply Code' section in Account Management and applied these codes to my Trion account manually.
After this, Defiance launcher login worked normally.
Hope this helps
