I agree with this sentiment, but also believe I understand the upset...

    Context.

It's one thing to re-hash the rules.
It's another thing to re-hash the rules after a certain member of the community management team makes a post that flubs a large portion of the community and causes even the mildest posters to turn negative.

And it's a completely different matter to re-hash the rules after such an event... and not admit the reason is because the community management team may have been harsh/hasty in such event.

In other words, there's two ways to take this: "That was our bad, but the rules haven't changed."
Or "We're cracking down on the rules, don't like it then get banned."

Without any implication of fault or apology on the part of the community management, it's easy to lean towards the other option.

PS: I will simply state that I currently have no reason to be upset or enraged at these "changes". That may or may not change, but, for the moment, it is what it is.

Common yes and all well and good if the application is done in a neutral manner and if the intent is honest. It also helps to maintain a true dialogue as to why an action is taken--and not resort to the worst case scenario for initial infractions. Some sites have expressed actions based upon escalating infractions. Usually, a PM with a verbal warning about problematic behavior for minor infractions. And no action is taken usually to stifle thoughts or a specific person, action is usually in regard to a specific post that violates the rules or a specific action (such as creating dual personas).

And often the most helpful person any company can have is the one with the most complaints (I don't mean random "I hate you all" posts-I mean ones that explain problems). Most people if they hate a product just move on and don't say anything. Someone that takes the time to complain and is specific about what's wrong, cares about the product more than likely, and wants to help see it do better. It's ill-advised to shut them up. But a lot of game devs' sites do this-they don't understand the word "fan".

Its not the rules themselves. I stated earlier in the thread that most if not all these rules were there before. It is the timing of their being rehashed and why. It is also the implications of their being used even more ambiguously than previously to subjectively marginalize criticism and discussion on the forums more so than in the past.

To make it more simple: its like a trashy mother hauling back her hand to smack her crying kid telling them not to cry more or they'll hit them again..... in the middle of a grocery store of onlookers. And the reason the kid was crying to begin with was the mother rolled the cart over their foot trying to race to an open checkout counter.

So......you're saying that if by some chance we are just responding the affirmative to a question posted, we have to find a way of saying it in more than 10 characters?

The only reason people type /10 char is to get past the minimum character limit. Not because we're being ****s.

I like how people in other threads and here are already mocking the suggestion given of what to say as an alternative :P

Thanks for the positive returns, everyone ^_^

Call me crazy, I'm just used to being more involved(as a mod, once upon a time), being honest, and not regurgitating copypasta on locking threads. Humanity as a whole recognizes and implements humor in many forms when approached by a difficult topic. The internet has enabled us to utilize this trait on a totally different level than ever before.

As someone said earlier about the fuss being created by this rule "reinforcement" for lack of better term, i believe folks on here are more inclined to be against it for a few reasons(many which have already been noted, so I will attempt to dive deeper):

    - We're looking at a group of community leaders who seem almost disjointed when it comes to cross-communication between design/development team and themselves.

    - When there is the issue of threads of the same topic popping up, clearly there is an issue that has to be addressed in the front, where everyone can see it. Simply locking a thread with a weird smiley, copypasta response, and absolute zero follow up shows a lack of fundamental checks that need to completed when associating with the community.

    - Each one of you on the past few pages have specifically stated these issues and many more. Unfortunately, I think we all know what the response will be. This creates a despondent atmosphere within the community, as it feels that --- well, WE ARE repeating ourselves.

So when does it end? This is the question I pose.

(seriously, I'm listening to this girl called Lorde, and I swear I think I've found a new favorite singer)

Are they having some sort of emergency meeting or something? Isn't it 0900 over there? Have I been in the military too long to think waking up at 0500 is not early? I am going to hang my head in shame.

ummm guys, stop saying this is a waste of time!!!

With new rules means like, more free time the devs have to work on the game....

all things have a reaction to action (or somthin like that)!
