I have no idea why this is not in game already. It is a basic feature of pc gaming. My friends don't need to hear me eating when I'm in a group, let me hit a button to talk ffs.

Do you have any idea how much of a nightmare this is in a lan with my wife.. the feed back and the bullsh** over the mic?

Give us the option to turn it off at least!

    Wait, what, really?

    There's no PTT?

That's not a basic feature of PC gaming, that's a basic feature OF gaming in general.

Yup.. I'm trying to play with my wife and it's voice activated or shut the whole system down period. Which is infuriating because of how many years this has been basic blaahhhhh...

Agree, we have been complaining about this since Alpha.

No excuse not to have a PTT option.

because if you're like me, and after hours of frustration of having to unplug your 120hz monitor to get into the settings, then you turn off voice chat alltogether. and you plug your damn monitor back in and you que up for a shadow war OOOH its back on already.. okay. then you go and turn it off again, by that point you've died 5 times and it turns itself back on in 5 minutes anyway so you decide just to mute the entire game and then you get a connection error and get kicked out of the shadow war you just spent so much effort trying to prevent your ears from bleeding out, and then you get banned for hacking.

on a less ridiclious note this game is amazing 9/10 regardless, and i agree complteley, however you guys can hit ctrl -> channel -> team/group -> mute, this will mute everyones mics :)

Ye I know tell me about it, and generally teamspeak3 servers cost money, so at end of day atleast 1 person has to cough up some for the server XD to run in, and when your not in a massive clan (as of yet, working on it) paying for it ain't an option XD. Hence using the free software provided :P, it just needs fine tuning is all. lol That is why I also use Steam as it has a voice chat function which is free and also push to talk ability :). On a side note I have made a thread dedicated to steam tags, as I'de like some friends who actually play defiance. My tags flmerl69 but it will come up as Odinj when added. So add me as friends plz ppl :P coz I'm lonelies XD lol.

I agree PTT is needed as well as an audio option just to turn off other voices period.

you can turn it off, i turned it off as soon as the servers went live, and it hasn't popped back on yet....
Its in the audio settings, the last option, you can get there from the character select screen, or when you are in the loadout screen and you go the wheel(you know to get to the store) and go to settings, bottom left

Is the Voice chat function only active when in Co-Op and PVP? or will it work while in a party just doing quests?

I feel like a bit of a noob but I'm not even sure how to configure my voice chat in game. From what your saying it is always on by default? If so some people I grouped with may have heard me shouting in rage when I died on an coop dungeon, eating, or just talking to people on my Ventrilo server. No one said anything about it but maybe they just all muted me...
