Not long ago I was playing at my typical playing time which is during the wee hours and came upon a Volge siege about half an hour before maintenance shut down, I was the only person there, so I decided to give it a shot for the heck of it. Not only did I do very well, I had the most fun I've had at a siege ever. It was so hectic running around blasting everything. Normally I earn around 20-30k for a score, but that night I earned 65k and my only orange drop in a siege to date.

So, I really have to take umbrage, UMBRAGE I SAY!, to a suggestion that implements a game mechanic that won't allow me to start a siege solo especially when there is no one else around! UMBRAGE I SAY! :)

Basically I feel that your entire premise for this post is that people shouldn't start a siege if there aren't enough people to handle the siege. This premise I believe to be flawed because I can personally attest to the fact that a single person can do well and have a ton of fun while doing so.

Lastly, I don't want you to think that I'm against common courtesy, if there are folks milling about and obviously waiting before initiating the siege, those folks should, you know, speak up and ask politely that they are waiting for a larger group to gather before initiating the siege, and at that point if someone starts it knowing full well that folks are in the midst of gathering for it, then I agree that person is a poopy head.

    Thanks for reading.

No prob with most of it, no.
Been batting some ideas, around in my head... lots of room so it's no trouble.

1.) Sieges appearing within 30 minutes of a shutdown should autostart approx 20 minutes before a shutdown or disappear at 18 minutes before. This is open to discussion of course. Maybe there should be a banner that alerts players that it wont finish on time, and proceed anyway.

2.) Sieges appearing on a server should be able to know/see how many ppl are on the server.. I know ppl server hop, but ignoring that fact as a transitory number, there should be a general thresh-hold number that is VERY lenient to start. It could be something like 2nd person within first 5 minutes to immediate start, or else it starts at 5 minutes after first contact.

3.) Sieges should in no way appear fewer than 20 minutes before a restart. There's no point in sieges (and A-falls) starting in a time-frame that leaves players IN THE EVENT at reboot. And people dont need a siege (or A-fall) ending 4 seconds before a reboot, so the 20 minute rule.

4.) It's not that much trouble to start it 5 minutes on the other side of a restart to allow people to accumulate on the server.

No reason why ppl playing in the middle of the night can't have a Siege to themselves if they're the only ones interested, but when there are fewer ppl around it'd still be nice to give the ones that are spread out a few moments to get there without making it a huge issue.

Just a few ideas for ya'll to shred.

Agreed, they should extend the time 1 person can set if off but still allow them to. I just put in a suggestion that people present can push the timer forward or hold it back depending on which side of the cap point that stand on. That would allow for people present to decide when it starts, instead of the one goober that can't wait and doesn't care about everyone else around.

It's funny because there's only like 100 people that still play the game, so there's no one to cooperate with.

Hmmm...what does this button do?.... :p
Ah, I drove to the Quarry for a Siege, see the time just started running, assumed people are gathered around the activated Ark Reactor and drive in to see no purple dots around the reactor and two red ones...ummm....really? So I switch my loadout to my radiation LMG and SMG run in and blast away when I notice a single purple dot run back in. :p

None of the turrets are upgraded. :p

Second wave starts and a few others have arrived so I start upgrading the turrets. You would think that one of them would bother to break the shields of the Volge Trooper that's capturing the Ark Reactor as I'm doing this. Nope. :p

Eventually players poured in and things normalized but I'm surprised we made it to an eleventh wave given that a few minutes were wasted in the first wave with no one engaging the Volge during that time (or maybe the player that activated the Reactor got overwhelmed and ran away after the first 30 seconds ).

As stated a few pages back:
I went to one a few days ago, I was first there, #2 fired it up.
I had to scrape #2 off the pavement a few times before #3 showed up.

You were prolly getting there between the time #1 extracted and his drive back from his last extraction point.

And I hate getting to a siege at stage 8 to find none of the turrets set. It generally means I have to set at least one during combat.
