Returning Player / Question Regarding Content
Does the game have 'limited' or 'time sensitive' content?

I purchased the game on release and gave it a try. Did not dislike it, but cannot say I was impressed or pulled in by it either. At that point I decided to wait, partially because I cannot watch serial television on a weekly basis, and partially to see what direction the game is taking in the near future.

Alas, the first season is complete. I am now ready to watch/play and give Defiance a real shot. I have purchased the first expansion/dlc and created a fresh character. My concern is exactly this, I heard a rumor that some content/storyline stuff is no longer available, and that certain missions/story/etc are only available at certain points during the airing schedule of the TV Series. Is this true?

I certainly hope not, for me the show is as new to me as the game and I intend to play the game/show in proper order. (IE starting the game now, knowing that the series begins after initial events in game at which point I will watch the 2 hr premiere, then hop in game and do the corresponding story missions that follow up and then lead into the next episode, rinse and repete).

Am I going to be unable to exercise my plan because the aforementioned content is no longer available?

Thanks in advance for any details provided.

    Fear not:
Time sensitive context is generally addressed for play by those who missed it the first time around and re-run.
Trick, the head guy in charge of stuff like that there has already said there would be another re-play, as yet un-scheduled, but prolly closer to events designed to draw new players in.

Didn't he say something to the affect that not only will in be replayed, but it would also be permenant? I thought it kinda sucked that they pulled that content out of the game except for the data recorders. I came in late and didn't get the opportunity to play those.

Thanks for the quick response crasher, please know It is greatly appreciated.

Perhaps you could answer a couple other questions for me. They are opinion based questions, so your answers are not based on fact, just your opinion.

When the game launched, I did not give it a fair chance and that I can be honest about. In what accumulated to less than six hours I had passed judgement on the game, and while that judgement was not wholly negative in nature, It laked enough positive to keep me playing.

I intend to give Defiance a real test drive this time and try not to pass judgement on any aspect of gameplay prematurely. Anyhow, on to my questions.

What is your opinion of the game?
How is the end game? and What does the End Game consist of?
Is there a competitive PVP community?
Is there End Game PVE in a traditional sense? (Highly Challenging Encounters w/ Eloquent Rewards)

Thanks in advance for any information and details you provide.

P.S. While these questions are directed at crasher, I welcome responses from anyone willing to answer them and offer their opinions.

1: The storyline is interesting and can be fun. It's MORE fun with friends.

2: The endgame, consists of mainly just doing what you want. You can do arfalls/sieges, co-ops or pvp, or just wander and kill ****.

3: There is a VERY competitive PvP community. Stroll over into the PvP sub-forums on here and you will se plenty of competitive peeps. I can think of a few very big PvP peeps just typing this.

4: If you want a higher challange, it is your job to do so. You can use fewer or less perks. Go after VOLGE (the hardest enemies to solo) with just an autopistol, or anything else you can come up with.

    Yeah.
But I'm not a PVP kinda guy, so I'll just say that since A/B is right most of the time <no dig> anyway I'll go along with him here, too.

I'm not really into PvP either but the Op did ask about the PvP as well, so I had to mention it.

Been playing several hours now, and so far it's okay. It does seem that content HAS been disabled though =(

I remember at launch doing a mission where I was introduced to arkfalls with the 2 main characters of the TV Series, that mission no longer exists. This is what I was worried about, it's too bad they decided to enable/disable content based on the tv series run. Not everyone watches shows live. I for example wait a full season before watching a single episode of any show.

Adding content based on the tv series as the show develops is awesome idea, but removing it when it is no longer relevant based on the tv series is not a good idea. What is irrelevant for a current viewer is not going to be for someone who buys the game and starts watching the show today.

Oh well, does no good to mope about it.

Ahaha. There's a few vocal people on the forum, outside of that, the pvp community is almost non existent. Don't try to overplay it.
Queue times are terrible, there's hardly anything competitive about the pvp in this game. No ladders, no rewards based on merit. It's just something they tacked on at the end. People try to play it off as the only end game, but if this is the end game then defiance is in even more trouble.

Yes but those 10 people are VERY VERY competitive! Go ahead and tell Nutturno or Nerfarious that they can ONLY go into pvp with wolfhounds and a shield with a 200 ego rating and aren't allowed to evade, jump, or take cover; while everyone else gets high level gear and can evade, jump, and take cover all they want! See the crapstorm coming!!!

Btw Notturno and Nefarious sorry about the joke names. I saw them on the forum recently and couldn't help myself!!!
