We as consumers need to be more understanding.
Hi, this a new player to the game. I'm not here to ridicule and demand stuff like many others on this forum have.

I've done some programming myself, and I learned that I found it to be too stressful. The smallest period, a missing dash in a loop command, and it all goes to hell. Better yet, you fix one thing to have it screw up something else. The worst is fixing a problem to have it become (unbeknownst to you) conflicting with code you've yet to implement into it.

I honestly do have some fun playing online, even with a couple of the bugs. The games great, it just needs ALOT of polish. But the developers were most likely forced to have the game released before the deadline of the show being released on the Sci-Fi channel. And we all know as gamers that such a marketing campaign can only end in disaster. For some reason, corporate america has yet to figure this out.

Currently I'm sure you are all aware of the patch problem. To be more detailed, the patch seems to be caught in an endless loop before resulting in a 'Critical' patch error on the PS3. Some are pissed and complaining that it's taking all day. Sometimes, it does in fact take all day. Coding without any breaks would drive me nuts. Sometimes, I'd get back to my computer and then see the solution almost instantly after sitting back down from my lunch break.

Instead of just stating our frustration (that I most likely share with alot) we need to just calmly report the specifics of what is currently not working. I could see this game working if the developers are willing to code and fix stuff. However, I never wanted to fix a program for a person who didn't appreciate all the time I had put into it. Nobody wants to mow the next door neighbors lawn out of generosity when all he does is come knocking on your front door to complain your dog took a crap on it.

I love your laid back attitude and the fact that your a new player to the game, A BIG WELCOME TO YOU. I also love you have an understanding of what is involved behind the scenes. What you dont have is an understanding of the reality of this game for the majority of the players that do play this. Alot of us have been here since the begining or just after it started, so you have missed most of the crap that has gone down. In a way, lucky you. Fingers crossed you travel the Bay Area for a long time to come with the very attitude you have shown in your topic. Good luck.

Oh I'm well aware, most games would have these problems fixed by now. But this is the first game that I know of that was both an MMORPG and had to be released on a specific date to sync with the show. MMORPG's aren't like other game however, as there is a substantial increase to the amount of networking issues compared to that of other games. I think Trion knew this, but instead of concentrating on having the networking issues fixed, they wanted to make sure the gameplay was decent. It's easier (in my opinion) to fix networking issues further down the road instead of game mechanics. I'm also pretty sure they tried their best to argue with the show developers that a game needs a massive amount of more time to create than a CG heavy tv show does. (I haven't even bothered to watch the actual show itself, Sci-Fi tends to make very laughable CG effects. Especially their crappy horror films.) Point being, the only people we truly have to blame are the ones who insisted that it needed to be released as soon as the show started. If I'm angry at somebody, it's those guys. Too many times have games been ruined (or just created) to cash in on a movie or tv show release. Trion showed earlier with the game Rift that they do care about quality. That's why I'm sure it's not Trion to blame. But it's Sci-Fi

    Typical MMO community
To be fair, the average MMO community is horribly negative. I've played another MMO which will stay nameless for several years, and year after year the playerbase said X or Y would be the end of the game and that the devs made horrible decisions. Today the game has a larger playerbase than ever...

But it's refreshing to see someone with a positive outlook. Personally I just read the forums for the info, and I ignore the negativity. I love the game, and I'll play it no matter what others think.

The problems are only temporary anyway. We just have to wait until Trion fixes their work on HealthCare.gov.

    Oh, wait...

    Nice try.

The devs weren't doing us a favor out of generosity when they wrote the code.

1.) The part in red: It's their job to get it 'right', not get it 'close'. If they're not good at their job, somebody who IS good at it should be doing it instead.

2.) The part in blue: The release date was part of the contract documents. As was the date the program was to be ready by. The date wasn't a surprise. It was something that Trion agreed to. They were "most likely forced to" do nothing but live up to the agreement they entered into.

3.) The part in green: In your particular case, your 'Customer' doesn't care whether you "never wanted to fix a program", because your feelings aren't the issue when you delivered substandard code and the customer insists he get
    (a.) what he paid for,
(b.) what you agreed to do.

Had you delivered what you promised to deliver when you promised to deliver it, your 'feelings' would never enter into the discussion, would they?

I only hope this game eventually reaches its potential. Il be here until either myself or the servers die. I still have lots of fun playing and want to see this game succeed so bad.

Welcome, nice to see you have a good attitude about the game, we have to many gamers complaining about this game (i do have a little moan occasional too but that is usually because of poor choices in regards to the game rather than technical issues)
I hope you enjoy your time in the game.

Now ive just got a 1h:25m wait to down load the newest patch on my archaic cornish broadband before i can get back into the game

Compared to Rift this game is pretty much a cluster****, i remember Rift having a dodgy start but nowhere this bad.

Shame on me for preordering it but that's the chance you take (stares at hellbug sitting forlornly on shelf).

They ain't getting any more money from me until things get sorted out.
