Give Respect and Dignity, build a GOOD COMMUNITY

I have a question for everyone, or perhaps just something to think about.
I saw Tyranno slam down a few threads today, so I would say that the "tolerance for Male Pow Shtako" appears to be tightening down and I personally don't have an issue with that.
A Lot of the Folks that I run with comport themselves with respect for others and themselves, The Dawn Patrol makes it a point to do the same. Of course, tolerance runs out and tempers rise and People will get angry - that is a given.
One of my biggest problems with what goes on here in these Forum Threads is the fundamental lack of respect for other people. I completely understand that Trion Worlds is a corporate entity that We have paid for a product. Naturally, when any consumer pays for a product and feels slighted by the producer, sure the buyer will get angry.
Totally Understandable.
Constant haraunging and snarky comments have never been helpful, nor have personal insults.
I am sure that I will get some from the "pleasant readers" on the forums.
Respect and Tolerance have ALWAYS WORKED and ALWAYS WILL.
Sure, You can PI$$ and moan all that you want but if You try and remember that Elizabeth, Greg and Trick are HUMAN FREAKING BEINGS and treat them with Respect and Dignity and maybe they will listen to You more than they do.
This doesn't apply to everyone, but if YOU are wondering if it does apply to YOU.....it probably does.

I agree with you 1000% but you know that people will now come on here and say you are drinking the Kool-Aid!

We are all people and we are all equal.....I don't understand why everything is taken so personally and seriously.....in a GAME! Anyone on here can say what they want but when you slump down into childish behavior and name calling all you are doing is making yourself look bad. Be an adult or at least try to be an adult and remember it is a game not your life. My views and posts have not changed in all my time here....I will continue to be me.

I could have swore I saw some people (not you) with "Dawn Patrol" in their sigs comport themselves without respect for others before. Maybe you got your guys in line since then.

The thing I'm not quite understanding is that their are very few insults directed at Elizabeth, Greg, and Trick on this forum. All the insults that I see are directed at the company they work for. Whenever there is criticism directed at one of them personally, it's always seems to be respectful and constructive. Maybe the real bad ones are deleted before I can see them?

IF I had exploited the EL vendor and then been punished for it there are only two reasonable options.

1) Quietly quit the game.

2) Quietly continue playing after recovering from the punishment.

Personally, It's embarrassing and unflattering to come onto a game forum and admit to cheating in one sentence and then complain about the punishment in the next.

Unfortunately Zugo, you are one of those few that actually have a sense of fair play and self-respect. Many, if not most, gamers who willingly use exploits do not, and hence the childish tantrums when things don't go their way.

Today was definitely an exception given the events that unfolded, so I am sure there was some unwarranted insults being thrown. But still on the average, I see plenty of negative posts about Trion all the time, most of them are warranted. The truly offensive ones are always removed/closed. But just because someone is mad at Trion and gives Trion as a company criticism and negative feedback, does not mean that person is insulting Elizabeth, Greg, or Trick. Its sort of like when you call customer service and complain about a product, you are criticizing the company, not the customer service rep, unless you are real jerk.

William, although some Dawn Patrol members can get "testy" and It is undertsandable because We all have feelings and handle things in different ways. We don't "keep them in line" because our Clan is a collection of friends and not a tyranny or anything like that. The Dawn Patrol strives to improve constantly and to get better but We all accept who We are and move on, Respect and Dignity over all.

There have been plenty of nasty personal comments and they get snipered fast.
I just would rather have a positive and helpful forum community where We all work together to build something better, and THAT is why I try to sign my "question" posts with "GET INVOLVED, so Defiance can EVOLVE."
I honestly believe in it.

That's the key, isn't it? And unfortunately, something not very many people think about when they go to call customer service, or go to a return desk in a retail store, and any other number of similar situations. It seems that people tend to be more jerky in their behavior because that's the easiest thing to do. I don't feel it unjustified when they are called out for such behavior.

It has been my personal experience that, no matter how upset you are, when are talking to a support person (or posting a message in a forum), it is best to do so with a calm and concise manner. In the long run, you'll get better results because of it. Heck, that's how I was able to get a free upgrade to my cable service many years ago, and actually be able to watch it - when all my neighbors still had white fuzz on their screens and where literally shouting at the person at the other end of the phone.

I can understand that you want to have a helpful forum community, but we do already have one. This forum helped me understand a lot of the game mechanics and features that I could not figure out by myself or through the games help system. Most of the posts I see (before today of course) have provided great criticisms and offered good suggestions. There are plenty of people on here that support the game. It is also important in Defiance's improvement to have a place where people can vent their frustrations about the game so that Trion can be aware of those issues. But just because someone makes a snarky comment about Trion does not mean they are insulting Elizabeth, Greg or Trick.

I've said this today in another thread: "My take away from this ordeal is that if there's something new in Defiance, then its probably broke..." That is an honest criticism of how this game has been handled thus far. I'm not being mean to Trion, Elizabeth, Greg, or Trick. I'm just stating a trend that the company has yet to fix. I feel that we need to repeat things like that so that Trion is aware that we are unhappy when they give us things that are not functioning correctly. And others need to do the same about the other issues this game has. And lets not forget about all the great suggestion threads that never get comments from the Trion reps. That's how we already are helpful.

You don't like someone....don't respond to their posts...ignore them. What are they gonna do, keep calling you out in an online forum....OH NO! The people's opinion that matter to me are my friends.....my clan mates (and affiliates, you should know who you all are), not some random person on the forums that doesn't know me from OAT!

Treat people how you want to be treated....that is what I try to do. Help one another....because at one time you needed help too. These should be things EVERYONE already knows.....is it really that hard????

The difference is that you conducted yourself with respect and did not whine about the situation and resort to childish threats. Besides what is said about Trion....it happens between players all the time. The majority of the posts on here have one player calling another something and vise versa.....where has all of the respect for the community gone.

I am honestly surprised that someone hasn't come on here and called myself or CRIXDA the "Trion Police" or tell us to stop being "White Knights" or stop drinking the "Kool-Aid". I'm sure it will happen.....but these are the things I am personally talking about.

Sorry, I'll see if I can conjure up some if you really want them. But I know there were a few from today blasting the exploiters in their whine threads. Why you make me do work? :( Crixda acknowledged that some can get 'testy' though and that's all the acknowledgement I need. Would you still like some links about Dawn Patrol 'testy-ness'?

Edit: Just because Crixda admitted that some members can get 'testy' in no way undercuts his call to civility in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more - I would do the same - key word being "Quietly"; I do think the punishments previously listed sound a little harsh, but why are people surprised when their hand gets slapped in the cookie jar?

Thanks for this thread. I think this is an important discussion to have and I want to make it clear that my PM box is ALWAYS open if you think something is wrong or you'd like to talk about policies or changes.

We've been working to have a much more open and tolerant forum and I will gladly check over any infraction or other moderation issue you have if you think it was improperly put upon you (please don't talk about this stuff in the forums - that rule still stands!) but please know that the mods are doing their job and it seems that right now we're having issues with folks insulting each other and/or the team and that's not okay. If you have a problem or are unhappy, let your voice be heard. Please - that's welcome here. But please try and stay away from the attacks.

Ok...maybe the "majority" is a bit much, I stand corrected. :)

I know that it comes and goes in waves....mostly any time Trion announces a change to the game. Go back to the grenade change, or the weapon change....or any other change that has been announced.....that is when you see this ugly monster pop up.

I understand frustration.....and fear of change. The truth is that the game is going to change and you either have to roll with it or leave. Trion is a business and they will do what they feel is best for the game. Do I always agree....no but at the same time....there may be a reason for it and in the end it may be better....we don't know until they do it.

To vent is one thing.....but remember something, the more hostile someone is....the more chance they will be ignored. Coming from a Customer Support role (IRL)...I go out of my way for people that treat me with respect and dignity. Those that yell, scream and whine......go to the bottom of my pile and I "MAY" get to them.....eventually.

Its all good. We all do it from time to time. I just try and stay away from fueling the A-holes by not commenting on them or in their threads, whether they deserve it or not.

Given your apology, I'd like to apologize to Crixda for posting a stupid eye-rolling gif in response to a comment he made in another thread. That was not a productive post, and I am sorry for that.

You forgot about the third option. Email the CEO , I''am sure he didn't like to see a bunch of e-mails regarding his game.
