I dont know about the Santa Hat rewards. Brings back too many bad memories of WOW forums and World Chat, people would argue endlessly about who should and shouldn't get hats, and how meaningless/full they were. Actually they are probably still doing that(or at least they will in December)

Regarding Zoo's: Not sure of the usage you allude to. Having been an agribusiness major and manager in my early/misspent youth, and working on a horse and cattle ranch where we raised several dozen Hampshire hogs for Christmas slaughter every year, I found that the term Boar Hog tends to be in common usage amongst the agrarian population.
