Since 'The Volge' don't actually 'wear' the Volge helmets in game..... huh?
How are they being passed off as Volge Helmets in store and as rewards?

I don't think anything a Viscera is going to wear will fit me, I'm sure I could use it as a hot-tub.
And both helmets are the wrong style for either version of Viscera anyway.

Bombers look like ticks, do they even have a head in the normal sense of the word?

Troopers sure aren't going to fit a helmet on the *inside* of the fishbowl they wear, and outside it is equally silly.

So who wears the Volge helmets that makes 'em 'Volge' helmets?

Some operatic version of a Volge Brunhilde?

My guess is that the helmets we are seeing are from unseen Volge units. Someone has to be up there in the stratosphere calling the shots and launching the troops down to the surface.

Maybe we have the janitors helmet?

I think these come direct from a Volge sportings equipment outlet. One's an umpire's mask and the other's a goalie mask used by Volge hockey players.

The Volge Viscera helm is actually a Volge Viscera - Rhinovolgeros Skull. A popular pet among the viscera, similar to Earth rhinos.

I looked on the inside of mine and it says "Made In China"

    Great.
I managed an engineering refit project in Florida where we had to gut the interior of ~400 brand-new-complete-presold condo's because the Chinese drywall was outgassing and corroding the wiring in the junction boxes and the copper piping in the walls and A/C units.
I guess I need to go to Home Depot and get a supply of paper element particle masks so popular on oriental subway photo-shoots.... :)

Except their own lore videos say the volge exist underground, not in the stratosphere.
Which makes the whole "landing" at sieges pretty ridiculous, but then again consistency is not part of this game's repertoire

The helmets we get in the store are part of von bach's bunny ears line. He needed a focal point and decided to use the volge.

I remember the underground part, but they traveled/followed the Votans to Earth. I figured they had their own ships to make the journey. Do they mention them living underground on Earth, or was it just added knowledge for how they lived on their home world?

They live in underground colonies on Earth.

Not only do they live in underground colonies but, ironically, the Defiance timeline mentions the establishment of a Votan colony in Mexico named Omec. Omec is, by happenstance most certainly, the name of the former Volge homeworld.

My speculation: The Indogene brought them along as shock troops. [Show spoiler ahead] When Doc Yewll commented to Mayor Nikki about "You turned the Volge loose," I don't think she was only referring to Defiance. As well, I'm betting the Indogene are protecting that ship up north because it contains proof of everything they've been up to and why they ultimately came to Sol and Earth.
