No Cross Platform and I don't think there is split screen but maybe they will take a note from PSO and have it. Also no stupid questions just unanswered ones.

Why would split screen be impossible?

Read your comment...no really read it...question it's very existence in this universe...nope..nope..take your time. Now slap yourself.
If your not satisfied then its just simply on a console it would not be powerful enough, and on a computer split screen is just a gimmick.:P

Impossible? Yes and no. Like I said before PSO(Phanstay Star Online) had it so could play offline in a 4 player co-op. The character you played with offline could also go online but the no factor is that you couldn't play co-op online for reasons stated.

I think i remember one of the original NFS games being splitscreen on the PC. 1 player used the keyboard, the 2nd used the mouse.

It was absolutely horribly to say the least!

First of all I'll address the questions sounding stupid. STOP, it doesn't sound stupid. Now yes it may've been asked elsewhere but the question itself is a legitimate question and you have no need for feeling that it sounds stupid.

The next thing being said, while they did at some point mention that it IS possible to cross play a PC with a PS3, or Xbox 360 with enough tweaks, it appears that Microsoft does not want to support crossing over with the PS3 which is in my opinion a huge shame. Because look at the wonderful things that Sony has done so far. This being that their release of PSU (for Play Station 2) ran in addition to the PC version. While the 360 version was running along and by itself.

Now look at the release of Dust 514, which originally did have a 360 release coming with it, but ended up getting canned because Microsoft didn't want to do the cross platform project to possibly have to deal with the PS3 version?

As far as I know, for the console version no splitscreen has been announced. And while I dont know A TON about how programming, but I think that aspect could work since there are other quite detailed multiplayer games. However a headache would arise with the fact that they would have to find a way two basically run two instances with two people logged in on one machine which might cause issues.

umm ok i can agree that asking about cross platform isnt stupid.. but asking about split screen in an MMO IS DEFINITELY stupid... you ever heard of a split screen MMO? if this was a normal/traditional shooter THEN it wouldnt be a stupid question

oh and dont forget FFXI run cross platform on PS2, backwards compatible PS3s, PC AND even Xbox 360.... i dont know what SE did to make that happen but Trion and everyone else should ask them for tips

No, I have never seen a split screen mmo. However asking about it is NOT stupid.

Much in the way that we've never seen an MMO that ties in to a television show. This can also present problems given that the game will most likely rely and was made to rely on the tv series, and maybe vice versa so if one fails... the other one also SOL which would lead to the lost of millions up millions ( about 100 million according to Forbes).

The point is though, there is no option and maybe there are just some technical limitations which stop it from happening very easily. This being such things as having two people logged in from the same machine, etc.

All in all if one has never played an MMO it is not as far fetched to think that an MMO MIGHT be split screen on a console since many console games seem to have the option first of all. Next consider that there are not many (if any) running mmos for the console gaming systems to begin with? Finally and in my opinion, it is also downright disrespectful to simply say that a topic is stupid when the answer may seem obvious to you when someone who does not know asks about that. Especially when for all you know, they may have not had much or anything to do with mmos to begin with.

And before you make the argument that a simple search might've given them the answer let me pose you a question. I am in the process of going through graduate school I can turn around and apply to medical school. If you asked asked me a question say, "I had my spleen removed and now I seem to get sick more easily. Why is that?" Would I have any justification in calling your question stupid? Because it is quite obvious that the spleen does affect the function of the immune system, while also acting as a reservoir for red blood cells in the case of hemolytic shock for example. And if you don't know it... you can google it in this day and age right?

That being said, I do apologize for going off topic. But PLEASE do not simply dismiss a person's question as stupid simply because it is obvious to you. Because honestly in this case I do not truly understand why a split screen mmo is not possible on a console aside from making some guesses as to why. Yet there are things that may be quite obvious to me that will not be so for you and it is still not correct or right for me to call any of your potential questions stupid as a result.
