    Shotguns Shotguns and more Shotguns
Wanted that achievement, but I'm not a serious fan of shotguns as they are rough to reload with the exception of the perk - preparedness. The ones I tried are all pretty slow, have their flaws, none are perfect and have drawbacks like most things...

any advice? any shotguns you guys prefer or if you like them at all / or like them more than anything else? the achievement I was looking forward to is the one with the suit, where you need lvl 10 in sawed off shotguns t_t

There are 2 perks that allow faster reload. Invest in both and go with an OC build. I think the one I like was the Vbi short barrel for sawed-offs. I think there is also a Vbi slugger that is a different type of shotty that works well(can't remember for sure right now).

Most use courriers or clustershots, since they fire explosives. Just keep trying and hoefully you find one that fits you. Like I said I personally go with both reload perks on my OC build. I also prefer guns (especially shotguns) that have atleast one reload bonus. Btw Courriers are sawed-offs. Don't remember witch type clustershots are though.

Use the VBI Courier. It's basically a sawn off that behaves like a grenade launcher, using shotgun shells and doing more base damage than the Big Boomer (whoever thought that one up didn't think it through). Use it at infected sieges for fast weapon xp.

There is no such thing as a good shotgun anymore....the only one that is decent is the grind fragger but ever since the shotgun nerfs it sucks too

There are 2. One allows you to reload faster when standing still. The other allows you to reload faster when your shields are down. Btw when Overcharge is active, you also reload faster. You should see how fast my character loads his Vbi Ar with it's 2 reload bonuses, and both of those perks and Oc. When my sheilds are down and I'm standing still with Oc active, friends can barely even see the reload animation, and miss it if they blink. LOL

You'll hit level 10 in Sawed-off Shotgun skill long before you get 5000 kills with Combat Shotguns. My Combat Shotgun of choice is the FRC Auto-Scattergun because it works well with my Blur build and combat style. The single slug rounds and tight targeting reticle are ideal for crit hitting while shooting from the hip and I always shoot from the hip to take advantage of the high movement speed of my build.

I have all three speed bonus perks, Aggressive Defense, Follow-through, and Sonic Strike for melee damage bonus, and Intimidation to make melee and ranged attacks from the shotgun compliment one another. It may not stack up against an Overcharge build in terms of DPS but the DPS is still pretty good with it and there's something satisfying about literally running non-stop circles around Tanker Raiders and Mutant Minigunners while blasting away at their weak point while watching their attempts to hit you completely fail.

Heyyyy that blur thing would work, having to reload slowly despite the added perks that help it, you wouldn't get hit as much if not at all, never thought of it that way - going to look into the frc, which I just looted one recently they are very fun for combat shotguns ;)

how i got level 10 with sawed offs.
this is what i did for leveling sawed offs:

2 quartermaster heavy sawedoffs (forget the real name but it's the kind that fires two rounds of pellets everytime you trigger.) take preparedness and critical bonus perks. max out the damage mods, and use blur. run around, shoot a target, instead of hitting reload switch weapons slots instead. if you are going too fast you'll get one load of shot off insead of 2 but you can pretty much fire endlessly. took a few days of focused grinding but went alot quick from 4 to 10 than levels 1 through 3 did experimenting.

just my strategy, not telling you to do it. i found it fun for me, ymmv :)

Love using the heavy sawn off with double damage. Amazing for PvP. Mine does 5000+ damage with a 1.0 sec reload. Am yet to bump in2 sum1 who can't be 1hit by it yet. Vot fragger & grind fragger are also good.
