Do none of you see the reason for the defensive perk changes.
With DLC 2 dropping in the near future , they will be releasing the stims and the spikes. If you do not know what those are ,

    SPIKES
Grant ammo, increased damage, and shield power to allies with hi-tech ground Spikes. Once planted, Spikes radiate benefits to nearby players for a set duration or until destroyed.

    STIMS
Get juiced with special hypospray Stims that provide healing, speed and strength boosts, or an EGO power refresh. Like double Overcharge? Inject away!

Im sure this is obvious now. The reason they changed the defense perks is because ALL that defense + a Stim + a Spike. No way. Too much power. You think PvP people had too much health? If they did not change that....Well you can figure that out without me telling you. This patch is a preparation patch for the DLC. Deal with the 1 hit kills in PvP for now until the DLC drops or just don't play any PvP if its annoying you so much right now.

True this shifts people into spending more money for the game play they previously enjoyed without necessity for that but it also isnt solely part of their doing so to be sure.

Stop reading my mind. Honestly, a lot of what I'm seeing in DLC2 is just screaming "These are the same mistakes Firefall made!" I'm hoping I'm wrong and they don't fall into that pit, but considering how Rift centric Trion seems to be, I worry the future of Defiance will go off the rails down the MMORPG path... just like Firefall.

I don't want spikes and stims, it turns the game into 'magic'. I want 'plausible' in my games.
Spikes and stims break my immersion.

If I wanted that crap I'd play RIFT, which is why I don't play RIFT (besides the crummy graphics and animation).

So I don't want the DLC because it introduces the magic.

Thanks for trying to make me see and accept that the game is going in weird directions. I was planning on settling in here for a while, I tend to play a game for years.
But I can see that this stuff is going to try pushing me towards the yellow brick road.

And I don't want it to.
I really don't want it to.

So you're saying they lied to us on the reason they "fixed" things? hm.

That may be true if you can use the spikes in PvP, but as far as I know they still have NOT answered that question.

This. It's all about verisimilitude within the established reality of any game I play (and I tend to settle in for the long haul with games I decide I like). The proposed 'spikes' and 'stims' sound as strange, unwelcome and useless as the green charge stations have been (enemies utilize them, but 'friendlies' just set them off too early too often to ever be useful).

I almost never play shooters, and have no particularly great skill, but outside of soloing minor DM AFs, and the occasional bad moment at a siege or solo mission, this game feels pretty easy. It seems like the developers want to encourage more cooperation and team play, but adding more and more SUPERBUFF ACTIVATE! just does the opposite, and discourages that. If the challenges were increased in difficulty with no Magical Enemy Eraser present, it would create more intense and exciting encounters, which would encourage people to cooperate and fight together, or die disorganized and alone.

There's no way the developers are playing this game even close to the hours most players are. I don't believe it. If they were, these things would be as obvious to them as they are to us.

We know it wouldnt be the first second third fourth or fifth etc time. It is one of the few consistencies they maintain.

Then they failed (which seems to be another consistency for them). It's not as if the damage reduction perk nerf makes PvE even remotely difficult enough to need spikes or stims, it just makes certain builds and combat styles for PvE less attractive. I think people are reading way too much into it and giving Trion way too much credit for subterfuge in getting players to purchase DLC content. They aren't that clever when it comes to marketing (one look at the pricing for the bit store and the new boxes is testament to that observation).
