Im I the first to point out....

This game takes place in san fransisco..... a city..... does that not sound pretty small scale for an MMO? I mean MMOs usually take place is huge WORLDS/continents to explore.. you could literally spend all day trying to walk from one end to the other(which is why every mmo has teleport spells, mounts or some type of fast travel cause no one would be idiotic enough to try to walk from one end to the other lol)..

I just dont get that kinda vibe when I see san fransisco... I expect an "mmo" thats the size of a city in grand theft auto as opposed to a huge world... so I guess instead of this being an "open world" game itll be an "open city" game?

unless of course in this game/tv series timeline the city has expanded and the entire US only consist of san Francisco.. which now stretches across LOTS of other states and not just the small city in California it used to be and Defiance.. which was once st louis?

Having watched the archived live streams I would venture to say its more along the lines of a county then just the city. There is a reason they have player owned mounts early in the game. Just for quest objectives its quite a bit of space between them.

You're aware these "massive open worlds" you speak of are in reality, no bigger than a small town like Beaumont, Tx as far as actual size and scope goes, right? If there was an MMO that could actually fit the entirety of San Francisco within itself, I'd have to see it to believe it.

I'm pretty sure it's not just San Francisco but, it's surrounding area however...it is kinda hard to tell since there aren't any buildings where you are :P

It's not a terribly good game but Fallen Earth could probably fit three or four Friscos in it's game space.

It is the "Greater San Francisco Bay area", so it isn't just the city. Also remember that there will be instanced areas that could take place outside the map as well, not to mention any mines and stuff that may have been dug and all that.

I've only played Shadowbane and WOW. Wasn't terribly impressed with either. I apologize if I came off as a dillweed know-it-all :/

This is a great post. You basically took the words right out of my mouth.

I understand your concerns OP, and feel that they will change once you get your hands on the game. Heck, if you haven't already I would suggest joining the twitch.tv live streams (and watching past ones) to give you a better idea of what Zara is referring to in his/her post.
