Ok, I'll plead guilty here, sorta. I have yet to hit 40K but I do like the bolter, plus either a MG or DET. And yeah, I can take down smaller Volge who would eat my lunch up close and personal. For the TEs I do better with run n gun and Detonators. When I start hitting 40k -- or even hit it once -- I promise to feel guilty.

I'm not 100% convinced I can't do as well with a SAW or a Thunder and an ammo spike though. Just keep my aim on the face and down they go. How is that different? Really, am I doing something wrong here?

The Surge Bolter will outdamage a Thunder or SAW six ways to Sunday on the same Volge in the hands of players with comparable skill (especially if you use an ammo spike instead of a damage spike)

Yep, I couldn't believe it when I did a couple of volge emergencies with that beast. One shot for you... one shot for you... one shot for you... three shots for you Mr. Viscera with no stims or spikes or overcharge or ego perks nor nuthin.

I'm sticking with "unintended outcome" for 400 on the weapon balancing pass just past Alex.

I admit I try to overscore at sieges with my pre-patch purple assassin surge bolter :(... But I try to keep to one area where people usually wont migrate. Personally I'm just overscoring to get the clan bonuses, but I sometimes need to remind myself I'm not the only person trying to score. Pissing others off by taking kills ain't what I need.

I tried the Surge bolter its still not as good as my VBI TACC Assault Rifle with commando scope in my opinion, easily get over 50k with that as well.

Your current score is irrelevant. It's what's going to happen to your score when you're shooting the same Volge that one or two other players are also shooting with Surge Bolters. You won't even get to unload half an unmodded clip on a Volge Viscera before it evaporates from the Surge Bolter damage if that happens.

SO TRUE!!!! I was toying around with my blue Splitshot last night (no one around just shooting things) and it was silly sick...one shot DM and most anything else that I came across! I did use it inside a Minor ArkBreak to see what it would do...I was one and two hit killing the Volge and Drones. I changed back to my standard weapon to continue lvling my skill. It is in one of my WM loads to see if it works well for me.

I went to 2 volge seiges last night with my blue Surge bolter and trippled my score (at least) I got 36k and 38k which is a personal best for me. I get nowhere near that with any other weapon. Just hip shotting most of the time things just melt, its fun, and I might get to top tier, but its not right, I know I dont have that kind of skill.

I think I was lucky to have 2 seiges where I didnt have much competition, Either the other guys werent using bolters, or they were at the other 2 points. I would not have gotten those scores if I had someone else working a bolter standing next to me.

It is CRAZY accurate from the hip and very forgiving on the crit spots.

Maybe if it couldn't be charged from the hip and the hip accuracy was WAY WAY off, like with the Volge sniper rifle?

TBH I think it was fine the way it was before.

I've been reading Shadow Andreas and Elastik Spastics Comments about over powering one shot kills. I completely understand about not having fun getting many kills because people have found a way to get easy kills.
For volge sieges the goal at least for completing a level 10 siege ( this can be very hard.) I have done like 50 or so and can never get through a level 10 siege I would have loved the one shot killers to help. My problem Is i'm the one keeping a good defence usually saying at 1 point or going to the new one that is not guarded. Usually doing all the kills myself if I'm not killed and yes getting a huge high score. Most are trying to get high scores killing everything in sight. I just trying to defend a point to get through the stage.

I had though the point on the volge sieges were to DEFEND the POINTS to progress. If they go red then that stage will take longer.

Since the Arcbreaker DL2 came out I finally have completed a level 12 siege.

I didn't try it out before so I'm not sure what it was like....I never got a Surge Bolter (that I'm aware of) before I got a Splitshot.

Before DLC 2....it was tough to get past 10 but that was the point....a challenge. It was not impossible...but it was tough. Now I have been in a few that get to between 14-16 (easily) and I've been in 2 that have gone over 20. (when the inflicted sieges came back....I was in one on the first day that went into the high 20s...like 29...but that was a glitch that was happening at Diablo).
