I thought they were just localizing that? Translating and publishing.

Although I was an alpha tester for the localized version of Fragoria; a Russian browser rpg. And they did it like a normal game alpha; but it did seem like a small crew working on it.

Yet another example of bad developmental decisions. They went all PvP happy and even though many of us alpha testers asked for there to be some PvP free zones, it never happened. Good luck finding anyone playing the English version who's first language is English :) lol

DLC: Down Loadable Content - Content... New Stuff.

Hot Fix: The place where you fix the shtako you broke, or the shtako you jekked up the first few times.

    We *BUY* the DLCs.

They *OWE* us the Hot Fixes.

Then let's say they will release a DLC and a patch and that the expected release date for both happens to be the same day for practical reasons. Then let's not waste any more time on semantics, ok? What we asked was "WHEN". They finally gave us a more elaborate than "SOON" ie "february along with the DLC". And they get sh!t for it. *rolls eyes*

    About last patch :

    Quote:

Patch 1.206 (hotfix) - Patch Notes

    Among other things :
•Clever use of extraction and instance leaving will no longer cause the Warmaster to enter into an easily killable state.
•Updated Warmaster behavior to prevent one case where he could wall mount in the wrong location.
•Cleaned up loot table for Warmaster and arkbreaks to include base versions of cold fire weapons. Their chances of rolling were very low. (In the case of the battle rifle, non-existent.)
•Defeating the Volge Warmaster now correctly gives credit to all ark hunters in the encounter.
Four WM fixes... We're not there yet but at least they started fixing things

•Added one infector bug to Epic Hatchling grenades and two to legendary.
Quick fix following a forum bug report. Went COMPLETELY unnoticed... Again, credits were credits are due maybe?
To those who believe this was a bad patch, let's agree to disagree. Sure, it wasn't exhaustive, but, as someone else said to me : "If you think this sort of thing only happens around here, you clearly need to get out more."

IMHO, bar the grenadegate and chat, Defiance is improving steadily. New content is sometimes being added, without a monthly fee and even for non-DLC owners. Might I remember folks here that THIS IS A 5$ GAME ?

I agree with you that's why I wrote that at the end of my post :
"when I talk about "devs team", it's not the guy who do the code, it's the guy who is the director and make the choices, also the guy who design marketing stuff. "
Anyway, someone screwed up... and now ppl are angry.

It was not a 5$ game at his launch, it was a AAA price game at 50$, one month after launch it was at half price, and 2 months after it was at 10$ (I may exagerate a bit, but...). For me it's another sign, I never see a game so low in price in so short time...

Yeah, to the point that I believe it's underpriced now. It puzzles me they're actually still working on it for that price, besides the facts that they screw themselves by promising 5 DLCs with the pass and that the TV series has been renewed... Do the DLCs and bits purchase make up for the price drop?

Anyway, the gaming economy is so weird nowadays. So many games are released as "early access" (read : unfinished) instead of the usual free beta testing. So many fund-raising efforts, as if publishers had to be avoided like the plague... Marvel Heroes is free to play, but a new character in the store might cost you no less than 20 bucks... Neverwinter had 200$ pre-purchase packs for a free to play game - yeah you read that right, a 200$ free game lol... Not all of them are bad economic strategies, mind you. But it still makes you wonder sometimes.

PS : il manque un "s" à "creuses" dans ta sig. ;)

    Merci :)
9 mois que je me balade avec une faute dans ma sig...!

Otherwise I agree, gaming economy is weird, but I believe they do tons of money with this "free" model.
Btw, at his launch some ppl had expected that Defiance will become a f2p game, and tbh, 5$ + shop it's almost a f2p.
I guess they make more money with shop and dlc than with the game itself...

Thank you Escyos for offering your comment which is correct. The synopsis indicated the 7th legion were samurai who marched through Canada. Marching through Canada is a far cry from referring to them as Canadian!

I'm sure you read this before.
Just scroll/scan it again for a quick refresher, (right click it and open it in a new tab).

I have about $300 into this "$5" game.
I know several people that have over $1K, in this $5 game..
We bought it at full price, back in April.

I don't know when you started playing the game, and I don't care. It doesn't mean your opinion is less valid if it matches your Dec '13 forum join date. If it does match your join date it does mean your view point is based on less experience with this game, though.

    A parable:
You go to Trion Auto Service Center (TASC).
You have new tires put on your car. Tires are $60 each, but the upgraded tires are $120 each if you want those.
You pay for the Deluxe Dynamic Tire Balancing option at the same time.

You leave the next morning on a vacation. The ride is a little bumpy, but you assume it'll settle down with a few miles or so, like the last set you bought.

You're cruising along the interstate with your family and, <Bam>, you see your left/front tire/wheel bounce alongside the car, and roll away from you at 55 MPH.

When the dust settles you see that the lugnuts are gone at that corner, and checking the other 3 wheels you find another one with loose lugnuts.

The next morning, when you have your car towed back to TASC to present your issue, the manager ignores you for the first 2 hours. You keep trying to talk to him, but he keeps looking the other way. When you finally get his attention, he says you have to wait, he manages 2 other stores, too, they're working on other stuff right now, and they'll get to you, (wait for it....), 'Soon'....

Some time around 1 PM, he tells you they looked at the issues, and your red Pick/Up is fine. You tell him you have a blue Minivan.... 'Oh'...

Some time around 3 PM, he tells you they looked at it and will tighten up the nuts on the other 3 tires when they 'get the new wheel/tire they had to order'... should be a few weeks.....

3 weeks later, they give you a call, come get it, 'A week from tomorrow'.
You show up. The fender has been hammered back into rough shape from where it got beat up by the tire flying off, and sprayed a slightly different color with a spray can.
You point that out, they say the 'fix' is 'Free'. Besides, they "... spent 2 weeks hammering it into shape, you'll learn to like it.".

You get the car home, and this time you check the lugnuts. One is still loose.
You write emails to TASC, and eventually get a response: They can't find any loose lugnuts on any of the cars in the showroom or on the lot. 'Are you sure YOUR nuts are loose'? (At this point, you start to wonder if maybe you made a mistake buying anything....).
The response continues: 'The balancing was only $10, how much did you expect for only $10?'

You take off early that Friday afternoon, and you're having a Negra Modelo with a friend, telling him about your car problems, and he doesn't understand why you're upset. And by the way, he only paid $5/each for his same model tires on sale at TASC yesterday. Then he tells you that you might have gotten better service if you had thanked TASC.....

Scan through the link I posted.
Tell me, please, which items on that list are 'unreasonable, and which ones should wait for the next DLC, so they can be included in with it.

    Thank you for your time.

    tl;dr.
This would be too long, too.
Even though I keep hearing 'Size doesn't matter', I think that a shorter version just wouldn't do the same job.

I've been lurking crasher. Bought the game early 2013 for 50€ (Deluxe Edition).

I feel you bro, but we are mixing things up so much. My original post was just about constructive criticism and being intellectually honest. People trying to fix the game are not responsible for how early players got screwed off their bucks through poor planning and too high expectations for the game development. And it is them we are adressing here, not the marketing department. Just let's not forget that, that's all.

Are they? Not that I care, but that game's been vaporware with nothing at all to show for, what, about a year now?

In terms of actual deliverables in the last six months, I see evidence that they have some kind of a team left on Rift and some kind of a team on Trove; if they have more than one person or at most two on any of their other products, including this game, I just don't see any evidence of it.

The Rift team was pulled out of Rift to create Defiance. The Defi-Rift team has now been pulled to make Trove. That is where Trion's efforts are going. The people left managing Rift and Defiance are skeleton crews to keep the server / game functioning, but not much else.
