Name reservation for pre-order

PSU did it that way. It worked splendid.

Or reset our Beta characters allowing us to keep the name and customization.

I'd rather not have that. Even though i know how precious a name can be to someone, I'd rather it be first come first served.

Note:Pre-Ordering isn't "First come first served".

Even with a pre-order name reservation system like several games have done, it's still 'first come, first served'. Pre-order has absolutely nothing to do with it.

This is something you're seeing done more and more... I'd be in support of name reservations with pre-order. I have a couple names I'd want to have.

I made my own thread on this by accident (although I could have searched BEFORE I made the thread, but it slipped my mind).

I want name reservations, I don't need more than 1 name to reserve, I only want 1 name to reserve and reserving my desired name is important to me. That is all. My thread (that could be merged because of my idiocy).

It happens no worries! I do agree, I'd like to reserve a name but if I can't I hope I get there first lol.

i been playing mmos for god knows how many years, and one thing i have learnt, almost every new game the last name i used is nearly was taken by someone else.

i have a catalog of 20/30 names i use because i never get the names i want.

the thing that winds me up is people who start a game fill up all there slots with characters just to keep a bunch of names, that they never use.

so id be in support of name reservation, as long as its only 1.

Its a tough request because there will be the instance of another player (unlikely as it may seem) using the exact name for another game they are into. Just to be fair I see it on a first come first serve basis. Its tough if one is attached but out of 7 other billion people in the world somebody has the same name somewhere. Not trying to troll or upset but if two people use the same name and both pre-order at the same time who is preference given to?

Funny... I did the Planetside 2 beta into release. I had the same name through (it's fairly common name and only one word)... the servers switched a half dozen times throughout the beta and release. When they finally settled on server names, my character name was now taken. :\

I hate that. But like you, I have a few I use. I'd only need one reserved though.
